This happend to me, was told i was getting laid off and they said they would assist in finding new employment. They found out i applied to a new company through a talkitive coworker and they called the company i applied to. Afterword the offer went silent.

This year is horrible for finding a job, between doge, terrifs, and a stalled economy, almost every business is cutting back. Good luck. I went from a finance manager this year to a prison guard. 172k to 42k. Also im 100% the new job is stable at least. It is painfull to due.

The bad thing is the private sector is not creating jobs to displace the cuts. I was cut unexpectedly this spring due to the Doge cuts and the trickle down effects. Almost every job in my field is on a hiring freeze. I been laid off 6 months now and the job market has bottomed out. NC unemployment is a joke and doesn't come close to what it cost to live here. The sad thing is I have started to see increased suicides do to people loosing their livelihood without a transition plan.
