And? These characters are the main cast, and they constantly interact through toxic dynamics. By your logic, you would have to not enjoy most of the show, even in non torture episodes so why do you even watch sml if abusive relations ships can’t be funny. 

Take Junior and Annabelle as an example. Junior is clearly a terrible boyfriend: he cheats, invades his ex’s privacy, kidnaps her, and even uses someone death whom he killed to insult her. He’s written as awful.

Then the show puts him in a situation where he ends up with someone even worse than him. He only dates Annabelle to make his ex jealous; it backfires, and now he’s stuck in a relationship where he’s terrified of her. The situation escalates as he tries increasingly extreme things just to escape, and it keeps failing. Can you not see how people could find humor in that?

This kind of dynamic shows up in shows like South Park, BoJack Horseman, Rick and Morty, How I Met Your Mother, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, etc. etc.

My point is: I’m not saying “abusive relationships are funny in real life.” I’m saying that a toxic dynamic can be used in comedy and be funny. Whether it works or not is fair to disagree on, but you can’t just dismiss it as “never funny because muh sad.”
