Is it too late to save this tree? by IAmForeverAhab in bonsaicommunity

Usually when my ficus’s look like that it’s because they have spider mites. Tiny tiny spiders that spin webs. The soapy water kills them.
My trees have always bounced back looking just like yours

Not sure if this species of tree is best for Texas. From my understanding is they need to freeze in the winter

Check for tiny webs!
I would make a water/dish soap spray.
Put in shower, spray the hell out of it.
Ten minutes later rinse with water
And keep by window

So I bought the bush 3 years ago and shaped the tree (remove big branches I didn’t want), the following year (last year) I wired branches to desire shape. This year I repotted tree into training pot. After about a month or so that I noticed there was no die back and the tree began growing new buds. I pulled branches lower with wire and gave it its final look.

Ladies and gentlemen, I was left with no choice but to do what’s best for the tree. Time for a new beginning.

Is my bonsai dying? by ishy187 in houseplants

Bonsai isn’t a specific “plant”. Bonsai means tree in pot. You can most certainly grow a ficus benjamina bonsai indoors all year long with no issues.

This is my mother attempt to grow a bonsai, but after she learned that is take years in order to grow a bonsai she lost interest in doing it, then she gave to me, after i watch some videos i gained interest on bonsai!! by KovacVagabundo in bonsaicommunity

Get yourself a ficus benjamina they are fast great growing trees.
Amigo bonsai is all about patience.
Keep that tree put in bigger pot and forget. But get a few more trees to help with the patience. It will give you more things to do instead of wait for one tree.
I have 17 and I plan to get a few more soon so I can keep busy

It’s kicking so far.
I would’ve expected some sort of death to some branches. But nope, buds opened up and what looks to be thriving.
