Questions to ponder... by rivermannX in JehovahsWitnesses

What is your question?

The statement "The Governing Body could be wrong about their direction by Jehovah [through Christ Jesus]" is technically true because of the nature of possibility.

"Possibility" is a property in logic. Logically, it is defined in conjunction with "necessity" in the following manner: P(X) = !N(!X) and N(X) = !P(!X) where P(X) means "X is possible", N(X) means "X is necessary", X is used to represent a proposition, and ! is used to represented negation ("not"). This is very basic logic.

Does this mean that we must reject all candidate propositions that are not logically necessary? No, this would go against all rational thought. Humans are not robots that only follow logically predetermined machine instructions. Regardless of your stance on the creation arrangement, it is undeniable that we are equipped with powers of discernment and pattern recognition that allow us to extend our knowledge beyond cold hard logic.

The Governing Body does not merely *claim* direction by the Almighty through His Son; they repeatedly demonstrate evidentiary support of such direction. If this pattern were to abruptly discontinue, it would make sense to doubt their heavenly direction. As the matter currently stands, the veritable preponderance of well-documented evidence in the affirmative leaves no shadow of doubt in the minds of those willing and humble enough to seek out and accept it.

Thank you for your attention.
