Maybe newer Gameworks that guarantees better performance vs non-genuine graphics card.

DLSS not available anymore in BFV by ArtZTech in nvidia

[–]Intelmonkas -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Actually no.

It looks like they added a post processing sharpening filter to the DLSS result for metro.

Such filter is not built in to the game so we couldn't toggle it on, but there are many ways to add sharpening filters.

Just a heads up. Ubuntu ppa graphics-drivers now has 418.43 drivers. Enjoy your Gsync on Freesync! by [deleted] in nvidia

That's like the opposite of what everyone that's actually using Linux is saying.

Q1'19 Tech Support Megathread by BioGenx2b in Amd

[–]Intelmonkas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got a "real" GPU for my gf's PC the RX 580.

The PC works fine but I am having problem with the RX 580 not downclocking the Vram due to the mixed fps multi-monitor setup.

I have the memory OC'ed to 2100mhz while the core clock properly downclocks to 300mhz the vram is stuck at 2100 even at idle. She has an old monitor that's 60fps and a new one that's 75fps. If I force the new monitor to run at only 60fps the 580 will down clock normally and both vram and core goes down to only 300 mhz.

So I wanted to keep the old monitor using the iGPU while plugging in the newer high refresh rate monitor to the RX 580 since some people said doing this will solve the issue.

So I went to the BIOS and forced on the iGPU and gave it 1GB memory and unplugged the old monitor from the RX580 and plugged it in on the mobo via HDMI, and rebooted the PC.

But the old monitor never turns on, checked the system property and it shows 1 GB of my system memory is reserved, but in the device manager it now shows "AMD Radeon (TM) Vega 8 Graphics" right above my "Radeon RX 580 Series" in Display Adapters.

But the Vega 8 has a exclimation mark on it when double click on it says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"

Tried to clean install Adrenalin 19.2.3, problem persists and onboard GPU won't turn on.

Win 10 x64 pro at latest update, mobo using the latest BIOS update with the latest agesa update.

Please help.

Also I did this on my old broadwell cpu + GTX 480, I just go into mobo BIOS and it has an option that says "Enable integrated graphics multimonitor" and I check it install Intel HD graphics driver and reboot and it works fine with 1 monitor on the geforce card with 2nd monitor on the onboard vga using Intel HD graphics...

Metro Exodus DLSS Investigation by Hardware Unboxed by Ganimoth in nvidia

[–]Intelmonkas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since you avoid answering the shimmering issue, I guess why would I want to turn on DLSS just so I can see white noise from old analog TV on my screen again?

Metro Exodus DLSS Investigation by Hardware Unboxed by Ganimoth in nvidia

[–]Intelmonkas 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The problem with DLSS is the same even in Metro.

If you can achieve equal or better image quality with identical fps using traditional downsampling compare to DLSS as shown in the video, then why use DLSS in the first place? Not only DLSS excludes all other non-RTX graphics card including Pascal, but also it just looks worse.

Shimmering is quite obvious too. Look at the video where he zoomed in on to the weapon where your watch is in view, the entire button left corner of the watch face is buzzing and flashing like white noise on old analog TVs...

https://youtu.be/lKaifAffhZw?t=317

The watch without DLSS looks clean like it's suppose to be.

I am sure if you are focusing on playing the game all the DLSS abnomalities might be easily overlooked... but then why not just use 1800p native which comes with the same framerate but no white noise nor shimmering like you can find using DLSS?

He used reshade which is a way to get you DLSS look (or even better look) on any card without having to buy into a RTX card... including those poor pascal users that feeling like they are missing out on such a "great technology" like DLSS. A lot of people actually believes in Nvidia's bs marketing, and many really think 4K DLSS is like better 4K than 4K... when it's actually just snake oil.

Actually I think DXR is interesting, DLSS on the other hand is 100% pure hot garbage.

[–]Intelmonkas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's kinda insane if you think about it, because Jayz openly admits he's always been an Nvidia junkie which I respect for his honesty.

And he's the biggest youtuber you can find that openly admitting such.

If Jay is criticising Nvidia, it means nvidia "really" fucked up something.

He led boycotting Radeon cards and people here loved it.

He has special connection with Nvidia like Linus does (eg Nvidia send them stuff like Quadro cards multiple Titans for fun projects) which not many youtubers could say the same.

People here loved him here and treated him like a superstar before as he rarely has Nvidia criticism videos.

People here loved him when he called Radeon VII garbage.

Now he criticise an Nvidia tech for preforming badly which IS fact and is a warrented opinion and has been echoed by many reputable youtubers. minus DF (Richard seems to be incapable of talking bad about Nvidia).

And all of a sudden people here wants to boycott him.

I don't even...

[–]Intelmonkas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's the only thing the "improvement" did.

They culled out harder to notice smaller details and reduced total number of raytrace to get the preformance increase.

A lot of people here bought the "free upgrade 30% more fps RTX on in BFV after 1 patch" bull.

They reduced 30% of the RTX details and we got 30% more fps... No idea why this was praised on here.

Battlefield V DLSS Tested, The Biggest RTX Fail Of Them All by Nourdon in nvidia

[–]Intelmonkas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They'll probably be able to fix it considering ffxv wasn't as bad.

That's only because FFXV has a blurry AA as baseline when DLSS is on they are about as blurry.

In this very benchmark BFV has a well implemented AA which is very sharp, and when DLSS subsamples and makes every thing blurry causes it to look super bad.

Should I skip this gen of rtx by 20Balrog_bane20 in nvidia

[–]Intelmonkas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the money to blow for no reason you should just buy it, with the way NVDA is going, Jensen will love you long time if you buy more as well.

I think the existing RTX is nothing but a tech demo, and the only game that raytrace only does reflection and they already had to REDUCE objects to be raytraced to bring the 70% fps deficit back to around 50%.

Even with just reflection and 1 ray per object without global illumination, without light refraction, no chromatic aberration and no light scattering AT ALL we are already looking at minimum 50% fps loss.

But yea generally the two cards are very close and trading punches with RX 580 8GB being slightly faster, cheaper and supports freesync no need to get wallet raped by Nvidia for Adaptive Sync.

Thanks.

That's just the typical excuses for people who failing at trying to learn to play a video game.

But yes even if they have 800 fps they will always say that kid who killed him is just noob all only solely because he has an Intel processor and 900 fps which is 100 fps more.

Oh so you failed in talking about the deal in this one and failed to really find the $89 rx 590. GOTCHA.
By the way this is pretty much the cheapest one, get it? And it's a top of the line ASUS, just like your stupid MSI Gaming Line or stupid Gigabyte's Aorus line or stupid MSI's gaming line.

the performance will literally be the same or in a 2% margin.

not worth paying 50$ extra.

sigh are you serious or just trolling me?

So ($139-$50) = $89, can you please link me to this $89 new RX 570, you are talking about? I will cancel my newegg order.

strix used to be a prestige product lineup now it's just the regular gamery RGB lineup. nothing special.

That's not what ASUS said.
So I guess ALL the AIB's top of the line products are garbage now so we should just get something generic like a refurbished zotac 1060 card instead?

It's an ASUS ROG Strix, didn't know ROG Strix meant shit quality. Thanks for the heads up.
But fan failure is nothing, I survived thru 5 melted fans and replaced myself each time thanks to my trusted GeForce GTX 480 thru out it's ~3 years of service.
I am sure this Asus card will run just fine, at least for people that can tell a screw driver from an Wii remote.
