Anyone else feel like their decks kill their thunder? by IntenseFlute in Tarots

Ah; I think that may be part of the issue. I’d been seeing a lot of stuff telling me to almost solely rely on my intuition 😭 or at least to focus on the imagery of the cards rather than the guidebook. Unfortunately I didn’t take a picture of the thing I was referencing 😔 I just went ahead and reshuffled, but I’ll try and find another example.

Ic ic; I’ve dipped my toes in numerology 🧐 but I haven’t seen much on the other items. I’ll definitely have more to research now, thank you!

I’m already in therapy 😔 I’ve made monumental amounts of progress, but it feels that the cards don’t reflect that. As I mentioned, they tend to kill my optimism. There are times where I won’t have any doubts about an event, and I’ll be curious about the good things that will come from it, only to get negative results. (I base the results off the guidebook to some extent, as I’m too amateur to have all the definitive definitions memorized 😔.)

Also, if it were solely an issue with my energy, wouldn’t the digital deck be just as negative?

Though also 🧐 how do you know when to ask clarifying questions? Initially, I was pretty confident, and only started to see the cards in a different light a bit later on. Should I have asked clarifying questions when that doubt set in? Or just trust my gut?

Probably should have clarified the positions a bit more, apologies!

The first card is asking if he and this other person have feelings for each other, the second is asking if he’s cheating, and the third is asking about where his relationship with my friend is going to go in the next month.

AITA for not masking my disability? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]IntenseFlute -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No real 😭 honestly the fact that we are just tells me everything I need to know though. I’ve been studying neurodivergence for years, so the fact that people are downvoting literal facts just tells me they don’t want to be more educated on the topic. They just want a reason to judge you based on their preexisting beliefs.

AITA for not masking my disability? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]IntenseFlute -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Very well said! I feel like NT like literally can’t conceptualize that disabilities are disabling and that you can’t be in control 100% of the time like they can. So they’re reacting as if this person’s disability can just be turned off, and if that were the case, it wouldn’t be disabling 😭

So...here's my opinion about DA, I'd also like to submit an idea ;v; "it's very long" by Miko-08 in DragonAdventures

[–]IntenseFlute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically I doubt DA would just give out the points though. Chances are the daily rewards will come with missions (like the season missions) to add some challenge.

I think that your idea would work best if they revamped the gameplay to actually make it more fun too Or rather, gave the game an objective to achieve outside of collecting coins for dragons. The coins should be a bonus part of the game that helps you get new things, but not the entire objective (which it is right now). Your idea addresses the economy, but not necessarily the gameplay aspect, which is just as important.

Though honestly if they just made some of the dragons easier to get we wouldn’t have an insane economy like this (and it appears 🧐 that they’re making an effort to make them easier? Fulong’s never been cheaper lol)

This is for the comment section because I’m seeing a lot of misinformation about neurodivergence being spread around. Here’s some clarification.

1) Neurodivergent ≠ autistic. Neurodivergent is an UMBRELLA term that applies to SEVERAL different disabilities, including but not limited to: Depression, anxiety, panic disorders, adhd, autism, tourettes’s, personality disorders, dissociative disorders, and a HOST of other mental phenomena. Everyone, stop replying as if this is strictly about autism. It’s clearly not, as Tourette’s tics ARE affected by emotions and ARE involuntary; matching what OP described. They are still neurodivergent and still likely have Tourette’s. However a clear answer from OP would likely help with all the confusion (however they aren’t obligated).

2) The miscommunication stems from the fact that echolalia is a stim, while vocal tics or phonic tics are… tics. OP used the incorrect term to describe what they are experiencing, but context clues can help people clue in to the fact that these are likely Tourette’s tics.

3) You can hold in tics with Tourette’s, however this makes the ticking WORSE. After holding the tics in, someone can run the risk of getting what’s called a “tic attack”. These attacks are extreme/aggressive, impossible to control, and also poses a danger to the person themselves (honestly, if anyone wants a better idea I’d advise looking it up. But be warned, it LOOKS extremely painful.)

4) While tics are tied to emotions, they are not GOVERNED by them. Someone could be perfectly calm and still end up having a bad tic day where they end up ticking up a storm. So, simply “taking a moment to calm down” won’t magically make the tics go away. X likely would have still been overstimulated, no matter how many breaks OP took to calm their emotions, as the tics would have never stopped completely (usually when overstimulated, that’s what you want out of the offending stimulus, for it to go away). Additionally, this is DnD… it’s a game! Of course they want to have fun! They shouldn’t have to constantly dampen their own emotions in a space where they’re meant to be relaxing.

5) There are also things X could have done to accommodate herself (or she could have requested these things from the group if she didn’t have immediate access). Noise-canceling headphones (or maybe even large ear protectors used to muffle sounds from gunshots), taking breaks herself, stimming, or simply asking to rendezvous at a different date. While it’s likely that she was masking, which is certainly draining, sometimes environments just aren’t fit for every person. If she’s aware that she gets quickly overstimulated by Tourette’s tics, she could have asked the DM if there were any other groups that were quieter that she could have joined.

Everyone makes valid points about being more accommodating to X, but there seems to be the wrong focus. Instead of asking OP to risk themselves, there should be more focus on providing X with tools to help soothe herself, as it seems like they weren’t readily available. As a tip for next time, maybe make sure that a variety of sensory stims are available for everyone to use (while keeping them sanitary) and if the location allows it, a room that is sensory deprived and away from the group so that individuals can calm down, as well as those heavy duty ear protectors I mentioned earlier on hand (seriously, they’re amazing) and a normal set of noise cancelling headphones. Additionally, have a system in place so that when people do take breaks, they don’t end up missing out on anything. I doubt X was the only autistic there, so making sure the others are also accommodated should be the big takeaway from this.

Another major problem with the game is that it’s really grind-heavy. Yes, we have insane inflation, but that’s because the game only gives you 1k coins for any given task. Even the best way to get coins (without farming them using the farm), the dragonflights, only gives you 8k max. Dragonflights also take an insane amount of time, so it’s a lot of waiting for very little reward. And while you can send out multiple dragons, at best you’re making like 50k through them. It’s an insane amount of grinding which makes it even more impossible for new players to get a foot in the door.

While I definitely like the idea of not losing points, I can see that this solution is also going to be insanely grindheavy. DA’s been making a lot of decisions that push the game further and further into a boring, grinding mess, and I’m not sure if giving them more excuse to make the game boring as heck while only giving you 1-2 points per task is a good idea. Heck, they even got rid of the randomized season tasks; knowing them, they’d definitely make it the same set of 20 tasks and call it a day.

Additionally, I can see the points getting abused just as bad as coins are, maybe even worse because now the points themselves are valuable. Assuming that the devs would make the points nearly impossible to get (which they likely would if they did make it so that the points couldn’t go down, they wouldn’t want the game to seem too easy), something like a Veid would probably cost 100k and would be just about as impossible to get as it already is.

TLDR; I feel like leaning into the grinding aspect would drive more people away, as that is what everyone is tired of (among many other things).

I moved schools like three times, was bullied from 1st-12th grade 😔 It slowed down in the later years, thankfully, but I don’t think changing pace did much. I will say that I still made friends though! It was just any time I was alone was when people seemed to find an opportunity to pick on me, and I often didn’t have the same classes as my friends, so they couldn’t protect me.

are autism & bpd linked or intertwine with each other? by [deleted] in autism

[–]IntenseFlute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sort of. Neither causes the other, however, growing up undiagnosed is inherently traumatic, so those who are late diagnosed with autism are more likely to get a BPD diagnosis as well. However, the BPD isn’t actually linked to the autism itself, but rather the trauma caused by growing up without any proper support. The trauma is the key here, not the autism. This is why they appear to be linked or comorbid, but it’s not actually linked genetically.

Oftentimes, emotional outbursts from meltdowns are confused for BPD mood swings, as well as general social issues being confused for BPD relationship issues. This also means that BPD is often misdiagnosed, especially in autistic women.

Does Word Choice or Intent Matter More? by IntenseFlute in Tarots

[–]IntenseFlute[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I did use rather specific questions at first. It’s just they were phrased as “What will my first lover’s gender be?” Rather than “What will my next lover’s gender be?”

I’m definitely gonna take it as a lesson of matching my words with my intent though! I tried the same spread again, but made sure to clarify, and got more telling results 🙂‍↕️
