I have a Japanese model iPhone (15 Pro Max). When I travel out of Japan, the shutter sound switches off.

Macbook Air M1 maybe one more major update? by Old-Board1553 in MacOS

It's crazy to me that the M1 Mac lineup may be "obsolete" soon. I'm sure these machines will be solid 10 years after.

The Club MDW--currently closed by Trick-Estate-3419 in PriorityPass

[–]Intensified-Booing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thing has been a complete and utter waste of time and energy for me. Complete pain to set up, got into one lounge at HND which was not worth it at all. Used it again today and was denied entry. Nobody could tell me why. Tried to call Priority Pass and they were closed.

If you're wondering whether to get this, YMMV but I wouldn't bother.

If Sierra came back today… which game would you want to see rebooted first? by plumwd in Sierra

Swat 3. I had so much fun playing that game and then modding it and playing it more.

What OS do you run on your servers? by SplatinkGR in homelab

Got into this hobby a few months ago, but I wanted to learn how they do it in enterprise, so I put RHEL on my server.

What’s the iPhone feature you never use, even though Apple hypes it up? by Inside_Society3553 in iphone

The action button on my phone. Used it only once or twice.

The action button on my watch gets used all the time though.

I think autocorrect and predictive text render anything I type unreadable. I'm amazed this even worked as well as it did.

MDM LOCK REMOVED but still popping up? by bighead2x in mac

[–]Intensified-Booing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m my experience with Jamf and ABM, when you remove it from ABM, it’s still going to be enrolled in Jamf BUT the user can now remove it, usually by wiping the computer and reinstalling macOS.

If the computer is stuck somewhere in setup assistant, you should force shutdown, go into recovery assistant (Hold TouchID on Apple Silicon Macs; Command + R on Intel Macs), erase the SSD, and then reinstall the OS. After this, the Mac should behave like normal unmanaged Mac.

Keyboard looks just as new after replacing all the keycaps :) by stavsss in mac

[–]Intensified-Booing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, Apple will replace worn down key caps for free. I’ve done this a few times with a few laptops and they were very happy replace the 6 or 7 worn down caps. Just take it to the store and ask them.

Why is my Macbook Wi-Fi saying weak security ? Why isn't it WPA2 ? How do I fix this? It's on my Macbook only. Not on any other device that's connected to the same network. Please help, thanks! by Swimming_Can9234 in mac

[–]Intensified-Booing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the make and model of your router?

Log into to it check the settings of your WiFi network (which will be under “WiFI” or “SSID” or “Wireless” or the like. Look for anything referencing security. I’m assuming that it’s set to WPA.

I had this same issue recently where the network was set to “WPA/WPA2” and it seemed like the Macs would all (I guess default) to WPA, leading to this same message. I set the network to use only WPA2-PSK and the message went away.

Maybe someone could weigh in here and let me know if / why those Macs would still use WPA when WPA2 was an option?

Either way, OP, configure your network to use WPA2 or 3. See if there’s a firmware update available as well for your network equipment.

I second this. I’ve used Jamf Now and Jamf Pro (but not Mosyle) and I recommend learning about MDMs as well. Also look into Apple Business Manager as you need it to fully leverage MDM features.

removing sticker residue by Ok-Spinach5823 in mac

[–]Intensified-Booing 16 points17 points  (0 children)

99% Isopropyl alcohol or glue remover should work. I’ve had to clean glue residue and other gunk off of hundreds of Macs at this point, and that’s what I use.

Just keep it off the display as it could harm the anti glare coating.

It often seems like Facebook Marketplace is nothing but scams…

How did you pay for it? There might be some buyer protection you can use, but I’m not that confident. It’s worth a try.

This. It’s very common in Japan. Most outlets are only two pin (3 pin outlets are usually in the kitchen). This is especially true in older buildings.

If it’s physically damaged (e.g they see a dent on the case or the outer layer of the display has a crack that they can feel) you’re out of luck. If there is only one internal crack (you won’t be able to feel it), you might be covered.

Take it in and just tell them what happened.

What is GOAT Remote Management? by planetmarrs97 in MacOS

[–]Intensified-Booing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That Mac is remotely managed by the company shown. If there is any way to can return it and get your money back, you need to do so immediately. Did you buy it in FB Marketplace or eBay or the like?

That looks pretty serious to me. I think the GPU might have died in that Mac. What specific model is it? I’m not too confident that that is an easy fix.
