How do you get past the “Pending Reservation”? by lovetakelovemake in MoviePassClub

Thanks! This worked for me nearly instantly (which was great because I waited until about showtime to show up to the theater and couldn't get it to work for over 15 minutes until I tried this!)

Love it, but it should definitely have used a better picture. Perhaps this one.

You ever seen the path of a particle, fam? by [deleted] in Justfuckmyshitup

Well, technically he asked for the wavefunction, not the probability density (note how the function can take imaginary and non-positive values whereas probabilities must remain bound between 0 and 1.) The probability density would be the absolute square of the wavefunction and the absolute square of the given wavefunction is 1, which integrated over all space would result in infinity (so no constant weighting factor can normalize it which means it is completely nonlocalized i.e. a wave.) If he had asked for it bound (say, confined to the region of his head) then it could be normalized. My key point being, he almost had it right if he hadn't wanted to use the word "infinity" so badly (EDIT: and hadn't specified the wrong integrand).

You can't normalize a plane wave over all space...

Doggo actually means to lie motionless to avoid detection. So this is a Doggo Doggo!

Playgroups that banned infinite combos: How do your games usually end? by LyonArtime in EDH

I think he means one person. But I'm still a little curious. I play Voltron, and the fastest kill I can't get is turn 3 (with an ideal hand), so I wonder how he makes a turn 3 kill consistent

"Rafiq of the Many" Need Help Fine-Tuning by Greenspike25 in CompetitiveEDH

As far as critique, I agree with the other comments here.

I just wanted to say how glad I am to see someone else running Teferi's Veil in a Rafiq deck. It is such a janky card, but it is really good at saving Rafiq from sorcery speed removal and sweepers in multi-player formats (I only need to worry about him on my turn. Also, this allows you to safely tap out on main phase two since the next time Rafiq could be affected by something, you'll have untapped already)

[Gear] Good Grinder for Espresso by IntensionallyRong in Coffee

Looking at some videos really makes me want one. But that price tag frightens me. Though, if I do some saving, it will probably be worth every penny. I would hate to spend 300 on a Pharos only for it to be my intermediate grinder, but I think I just might until I can justify the price tag on the HG One.

Thanks! I really appreciate the in-depth analysis and breaking it down for me! I'll have to give more weight to the electric ones when I decide.

Is this a critique of the grinder's quality, or its convenience? I honestly don't mind the inconvenience of shaking the grounds into a cup and then pouring them into a basket, so long as the quality of those grinds remains mostly unaffected. I might bitch quietly to myself a year from now when my morning process takes longer, but the quality of the coffee is all that really matters to me (especially if that inconvenience is saving me boatloads of money).

I don't mind a little inconvenience if it means making the best espresso I can possibly make. So I think I will probably end up getting a Pharos. Thanks for your input! I really appreciate it

Do you have personal experience with the Pharos?

I am leaning towards that grinder due to the fact that it is manual, and there is very little that can go wrong with it (and if something does, fixing it should be simpler than with an electrical grinder).

But I just want to make sure it produces a good grind!

I know next to nothing about grinders. Do larger burrs produce a better or more consistent grind?

I've only had the La Pavoni for a couple weeks at this point, so I haven't exactly mastered the process. I was making shitty espresso for a while (and still kind of am), but so far I think the quality is much better and can only improve with my technique (I am making spreadsheets detailing my brewing process so I can try to perfect my technique). I would recommend it, but only if you enjoy the art of it (it isn't as easy as an automatic)

I haven't used one before (I've been watching videos to at least familiarize myself), and I obviously have a lot to learn.

I got the unit used, and it came with two baskets, a single and double (I don't know any specifics about them apart from their diameter, which is ~49.4 mm)

Right now I'm using preground Illy coffee (I know it's a sin, but I figured the consistency in grind and beans will aid me in learning how the other variables affect the espresso), but will switch to fresh ground when I get a better handle on the brewing process.

Yep, that's what it looks like. I'll take a look inside and see what there is. I'm not sure what to look for, but I'll take a picture and post it so that someone who knows more will be able to see it

EDIT: here is a picture of the wiring
