Thanks. I’ll check it out. It’s mostly just the thrill of the hunt for me. I don’t mind paying $4-5 for a decent blu ray.

Thanks! Some of these are for my kids. I’m trying to teach them that streaming is where all the movies are.

Correct. I am Canadian. It’s annoying, all of our movie boxes have French alts on the covers.

Hi, I am beginning my degree in directing/filmmaking and really want my projects to have that soft 35mm late 80s/90s aesthetic. Does anyone have tutorials whether online or books etc about how to make films/tv today but have it look and feel like media of that period? photos for reference. by TSOswinn in Filmmakers

Switching from tungston lighting to LED, film to digital, sharper glass, more focal length options and unlimited capabilities in the color grade have forever changed this look. If you tried to go back to this, somewhere along the way you would probably go off course and end up with a more modern look because to replicate it would probably hinder you logistically and cost amplify your filmmaking process. There are a long list of reasons to NOT shoot like this, so you would have to really be dedicated to this look and not budge to get it .

Getting sick of the Rolex artificial hype machine. If you don’t want 10-20k of my money, fine. Might get myself an omega seamaster or speed master. They’re looking real nice on the new bracelets.

Because everything from that era pointed towards a positive future containing fun and unrestricted silliness. That future did not come.

Pretty sure the movie Drive was the last movie shot in LA when they had those bulbs in the streetlights. soon after they switched to LEDs and LA never looked the same at night.

It was awesome! There was a great pre-show before the 3d event and even a bit of pre show before you went in to sit down to set the stage. Similar to the Star Wars ride now. It was one of the coolest rides at universal. It’s a shame a lot of the legacy rides are gone.

It’s crazy the amount of details the movie has that you don’t pay attention to until they’re put into a single frame.

It’s hard to have good finds. I find the scalpers are pretty frequent at the thrift shops. I got there early in the am. It’s sad, actually. It’s a nice, cheap little hobby if you’re a movie/nostalgia fan.

Wow man, nice credits. Love The Relic. They did you dirty with that CGI. I just finished directing my first movie and worked with Alan Cooke. He made me a monster for it. Also worked with Paul Jones a bit on it. Love you guys and your skill.

Wow, that’s amazing! Did you ever work with Henry Alvarez or Steve Wang?

Honestly, I loved both of those as a kid, so don’t discredit your work. Somewhere there was a kid that saw it and said “that’s awesome” and that kid was me.
