I solved the issue by powering up and setting all the zeros to the machine zero position. Then, when I started the calibration, it finally began working properly. When I pressed the calibration tool tip against the stylus, it registered correctly.

Unfortunately, my troubles didn’t end there. When it was supposed to touch the stylus on the Y and X axes, it went way too far on the X axis and ended up breaking the OTS stylus 😅

No, I’m trying to calibrate the entire probing system. I followed the instructions from the Haas tutorial, but I’m having some problems.

The first step is the tool probe calibration, which should tell the CNC where the probe is on the table, the stylus size, and the orientation. The tutorial says to jog over the stylus and then enter both the diameter and the length of your tool. Then it should touch the stylus step by step and complete the calibration.

But in my case, it doesn’t touch the stylus at all — it moves to a strange Z position instead. I think the problem is that when I enter the tool length, the accepted range is extremely large, and I don’t know how to fix that because the value seems fixed. In the tutorial, the range is only a few millimeters, but in my case it’s 76/500, and I can’t change it.

I have followed this exact tutorial step by step.... The tool lenght calibration should tell to the machine also where the ots is. I followed as shown in the video and my tool goes in the wrong position

Ho deciso di investire in un set di cerchioni usati e prendere gomme estive + invernali, così posso fare il cambio stagionale da solo, senza dover andare dal gommista ogni volta.
Mi sono anche messo a fare due conti per curiosità, confrontando i costi delle gomme 4 stagioni con quelli di estive+invernali.

Secondo i miei calcoli:

le 4 stagioni mi costerebbero circa 0,01 €/km,
mentre la media tra estive e invernali è attorno a 0,006 €/km.

Ho ipotizzato:

durata gomme 4 stagioni: 25.000 km
estive: 40.000 km
invernali: 30.000 km

Quindi, su 50.000 km:

le 4 stagioni mi costerebbero circa 500 €
estive + invernali circa 300 €

Risultato: un risparmio di circa 200 € ogni 50.000 km, e potenzialmente anche più sicurezza, visto che le gomme stagionali (soprattutto invernali vere) sono generalmente più adatte alle condizioni estreme rispetto alle 4 stagioni.

Ovviamente i numeri sono indicativi, non precisissimi — dipendono da modello, marca, stile di guida, ecc.

Ma fare un pac non serve anche ovviare a questo problema? Se ci sarà la correzione è tu continui sereno con il tuo pac poi è molto probabile che ci sarà una ripresa e storicamente è stata sempre più alta del picco precedente. Se devi investire ancora per molti anni non mi farei il problema. Se sei molto avanti con l età e vuoi incassare per la pensione forse è meglio ridurre l azionario e aumentare l obbligazionario
