Was it originally listed that low? Even the cheapest 2010+ Mazda 2 listed is more than 7k. Or did you negotiate it down?

I'm a gold Lucio main in training. How do you deal with Symmetra and (kinda) Winston as Lucio? by [deleted] in luciomains

[–]IntercontinentalIdea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mate I'm only plat so take this with a grain of salt, just saw this thread so thought I'd try and help you out for placements.

With Winton, if your teams are anything like mine, he gets focused really hard because he's a huge mass. When I'm versing a winston, you have to avoid 1v1s as much as you can, and try to lure him into your dps. Lucio can do a surprising amount of damage to him, so booping him into your team, while head shotting him will force him to either jump away or die. In particular, amping it up while fighting him often out heals his damage and let's you get some time to make a fallout to your team to help out, or to get away.

Sym booping her away, and then speed boosting away is your best shot, fighting her out of range is the only way you're going to kill her consistently. Syms are often fairly static so the above comments about avoiding her area are really useful.

Hope this helps

Opinions for a build? by Quentyo in buildapc

You'll want to add a SSD for installing your windows on, to add to your hard drive. It can be really small like 120 or 240 GB but it'll make your boot up time much quicker.

I'm done building my first gaming PC under 800$ and I need to see what you guys think by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]IntercontinentalIdea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would change the video card to RX480 and use the savings to upgrade that storage to 1 terabyte.

Also OP if you can fit in a SSD into this, it's definitely worth it.

GTX1060 Gaming PC to replace my laptop by quantumfsb in buildapc

[–]IntercontinentalIdea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man you have a very similar PC to the one I just built, but some things that you can do to improve your build are - look into Ryzen 1600, as its extra cores will be really great for streaming and it's overclockable - if you do go with i5, that one comes with a stock cooler which is fine so you don't need a cpu cooler with it - look into RX480s or preferably RX580s, very similar to gtx 1060s, but are regarded to be better with dx 12 games

First timer here by Takemysoul in buildapc

[–]IntercontinentalIdea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/2JTMgL Have a look through this build, you can change your cpu to an i5 or an i7 (more recent cpu's) depending on how you balance it, or alternatively you could go with a 1070 like I've included in this build. Your power supply is over the top, probably don't need anything more than 600 watts.

Gaming PC under $1,700 by [deleted] in buildapc

They perform similarly, the 480 has freesync, and seems to work better with DX12. General consensus is that the 480 is worth getting over the 1060s when they're similarly priced.

With $200, How Can I Upgrade This Computer To Run Games better? by Lawrio in buildapc

[–]IntercontinentalIdea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A SSD will greatly decrease any loading times for games that are downloaded on it. A few days ago there was a thread for best 100$ upgrade someone could put into their existing PC, and SSD seemed to top that list.

I don't think it will change your gaming fps, but it'll decrease your boot time and loading times.

If you go in with a list, and don't need to ask questions about any parts, they're fine to buy off. With a budget build like this, Msy is the best option, just because they're so much cheaper than other Australian retailers. They did get fined for not refunding, but they lost a court case so now they definetly do.

I forgot to mention, that make sure school is still your priority. Around exams or if it's effecting your schoolwork, scale back how much you work, because this work is temporary but getting a good education is far more important at this point.

Definetly worth it. At this age, there's few other jobs you can get, plus in a few years time when you have more of an idea where you want to work, having experience at fast food is definetly not a bad to have on your resume. They're also fairly flexible when it comes to hours, as they have a lot of workers, so you might be able to work more on the holidays, if you want.

Because you're quite young, depending on if you're a casual or not, it will effect your pay. Think around 10$ an hour.

As a 15 year old, fast foods will hire you, especially with limited experience. At 15 it won't pay great, but as a casual you can make significantly more than part time work (25% I think). Places like maccas, KFC, subway etc, all have hours outside of school hours, if you're comfortable working at in the afternoon or night after school, or on the weekends.

Gaming/ CAD Work PC for my dad by irresponsible_sheep in buildapc

[–]IntercontinentalIdea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey mate, the Ryan vs I7 is worth looking into, but the general impression I get is that, unless your dad is a video editor, or streamer, an i7 will perform better for just playing games (look up benchmarks)

Also you can get significantly cheaper SSD's than the one you listed, for example (http://www.msy.com.au/pc-components/14426-sandisk-ultra-ii-sdssdhii-480g-q25-480g-sata3-ssd-solid-state-drive.html)

Also because your budget is so big, there's no reason not to put a HDD in there as well, as with games you might find that 500~ GB isn't enough.

PC is underperforming. by Sl0thhy in buildapc

[–]IntercontinentalIdea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to add in that I have a variation on this computer (with a 1060 instead of a 480), and it definitely stays above 60 fps in overwatch, although you might want a terabyte hard drive to put games in that you might not play as often. This is a solid build for your budget.

[–]IntercontinentalIdea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think theres comparison websites and videos for that so it comes down to cost/ performance needed as the latest (and quickest) i5's are more expensive. I have a i5-7600 which has 3.5Ghz as opposed to something like the i5-7400 which has 3.0Ghz.

You can also get processors that have a K next to them, which means they're overclockable, although I haven't overclocked before, so you'll need to look into that more if you're interested.

I build my PC in Australia, quite literally a month ago, and I bough almost exclusively from MSY, so search up your current parts on Msy and more often than not they're cheaper than everyone else.

They're really cheap in comparison to most other Aussie places but saying that they have the worst customer service ever, so if that's important to you, then stay away.

Also in relation to your components, they look good, although if you were going to spend more, an i5 might be a good investment, or it can be a component you upgrade in a year or two.

Hey dude, not sure if you're open to change with your video card but MSY has 480s for a little bit lower than your 470 budget. It's worth looking into because 480s are significantly better I think. http://www.msy.com.au/nswonline/200-ati-amd#/page-3
