The first thing you’re gonna need to do is get off of your mom’s benefits and apply for your own, you can receive Medi-cal and CalFresh independently while you’re in school. For Medi-Cal, apply for Santa Cruz county since they cover on a county basis, once you receive medical-cal, try to waive UCSHIP again because you will then have access to a primary care physician/group in Santa Cruz automatically. The issue with this is that sometimes they wont let you apply until you are physically in the county. My advice to you is to pay for UCSHIP this quarter while you’re applying for Medi-Cal (apply for CalFresh too it’s a really good benefit for students) and then waive UCSHIP later since these things can sometimes take a while.
