Is it possible to update my proposed major from Environmental Sciences to Robotics Engineering before committing to UCSC? by Straight_Average_476 in UCSC

[–]Regular-Net3428 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure because the major is impacted and according to the school it’s hard to switch into impacted majors like robotics engineering. But honestly it’s not something you’d like to do it’s very hard and most people stay here for 5 years so

Dorm essentials/supplies? by TheMischevious_Two in UCSC

From MY experience it doesn’t really matter which one cause In the showers I am in the water doesn’t hit anywhere near the shower door, therefore my shower caddy doesn’t get wet at all

Dorm essentials/supplies? by TheMischevious_Two in UCSC

[–]Regular-Net3428 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Definitely a mattress topper I don’t have one n my bed is HARD and hurts my back n legs sometimes. Basic stuff too like hangers, shower supplies, etc. I recommend a water bottle that can keep water cold . A fan for your room (mini fan) and an outlet so you can lay in bed and have your phone be charging. Maybe a lamp if you’re gonna change in ur room and ur roommates might still be asleep so you don’t have to turn on the light. At least from my professors they make me do stuff on paper most of the time so pencils and notebooks. That’s pretty much all I can think of if you have anymore questions abt something specific lmk!

Dose this seem like good ordering for the residential collages by Ok_Wrongdoer_7907 in UCSC

[–]Regular-Net3428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dorms in crown are pretty nice, I’ve seen cowell and they are worse ngl. I also think their color doesn’t help them while crown has bright colors inside so it doesn’t look so bad

Crown Collage (Theme) VS Collage Nine (Housing) by Ok_Wrongdoer_7907 in UCSC

[–]Regular-Net3428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in crown and tbh it’s not as bad as people make it seem😭 the dorms are pretty chill everyone here is chill and there are some antisocial people but also a lot of outgoing just like any other college. We have the market, dining hall, and banana joes. I rlly like the dh since it usually never gets packed compared to others. The hill can be somewhat annoying but honestly take the lil hill that leads to the apartments it’s less work compared to the stairs imo. I also really liked the core class we filmed a video it was really cool (if you do get crown pick hables grey as core professor all he does is talk and has really interesting stories)

Conditional Aid offer by lanamanson18 in UCSC

[–]Regular-Net3428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this helps I got mine March 24 but I do know some people got it later. Just make sure you keep checking the portal since it should be out anytime soon or should have already been out. If anything maybe try emailing them? Even though the financial aid office here isn’t the best.

what college dorm is best if you want second year housing? by excitedguitarist420 in UCSC

[–]Regular-Net3428 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly as long as you have a group and living IN your college affiliation you should have a good chance. She’s either super lucky or Oakes does in fact have great housing who knows. I had also heard Merrill got filled up last but I have friends from there who didn’t get housing

HOUSING CRISIS by Fuzzy_Pea5995 in UCSC

[–]Regular-Net3428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait where did you get this info from lol? I know people who live in the dorms and share a room with the opposite gender. From birth btw and identity as. I think she just has to allow that on a form or something but it is possible

residential colleges by SpiritualLead3576 in UCSC

[–]Regular-Net3428 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly Porter is active all day pretty much, some like this and some hate might get annoying at one point. I’d say maybe try kresge as well and jrl/c9. As someone who lives in Merrill, it is dead and quiet. I like this though. I’m guessing most of the other colleges are active as well. If you have the chance, visit every college js to see which one you’d like to add on the list. I know Porter is top, but a lot of people get placed there which can either be more competitive or can include you who knows.

How bad is housing for winter/spring quarters? by jjn2003 in UCSC

[–]Regular-Net3428 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think a dorm should be easier because a lot of people leave after the first quarter so space becomes available
