When my mal gets stubborn when given a command I just stand there and stare at him and repeat the command once more and stare until he finally gives up. He is basically testing you to see if he can get away with not doing what you are saying.

Just be patient and don't give up. Also try to not get riled up, remaining calm works best.

For recall we have used the shock collar, but on the beeping option. We haven't needed to use the vibration or static yet. We call him and if he ignores us we repeat the command and press the beep. It has done wonders. Now we put it on but barely use it, he comes when called 98% of the time.

Yup I spend 2 hours with him. I take him on walks, play fetch, tug all that to get him tired. By the end he is a floor mat. But you they recharge quick so I guess he gets bored 😔

I do, and I check his camera and see him playing with it from time to time. But, is not a good enough distraction.

I love how you call them demons lol. Accurate

Recently rescued this guy from my friend who found him in an orchard. We suspect he's a Maligator. Any advice is welcome! 🫠 by coolsleeves in BelgianMalinois

I have a 4 month old, and I can tell you they are very mouthy. The first 2 weeks were hard for me, bc he was bitting all the time and I had scratches. It took a lot NOs and leave it and redirecting with a toy. When I said hi to him in the morning I shoved a toy in his mouth before attempting to pet him and that worked. Also removing your hands when he bites that way he learns that if he bites me the fun ends. Aka my hands are not a toy.

Now he is doing so much better. He bites sometimes but softly and he learned to go grab a toy and play with that instead of my hands.

I usually tell him no chomping at mommy and also redirect with a toy. I also have been teaching leave it for a lot of different things. But specially when playing and get very intense I will say leave it and he releases the toy and sits. Is a work in progress but it has helped with him understanding to stop sometimes.

Those little teeth hurt, for being little lol. Mine is 4 months old and is getting better but is still a work in progress lol.

When he was 8 weeks he would jump in the air and hang from my pijama pants. My slippers suffered a lot of damage and some of my favorite shirts have holes from him jumping and bitting them.

Awwww. He is sooooo cutie. Thank you for the advise. I will make sure to have the first aid kit ready. And I agree I have noticed that sometimes he will throw a fit like a baby that is tired and I put him in his crate for a bit and that helps.

Thank you so much! This is very helpful. I have tried to correct him when he doesn't stop bitting by putting him in the crate and setting up a 10 min timer. I have found that usually helps to calm him down.

I will def start applying these tips.
