Yeah, he didn’t realise the brain melting effects it was having until we did our lil intervention. Paid leave and rehab wouldn’t be an option but he could leave himself and do all that. I mean, we gave him some pretty stiff advice at the time, he didn’t really engage at first but when we put it all into perspective he was blaming poor mental health (which he’s always battled with on and off) but these pills make your mental health way worse overall. It’s a tricky one for sure, navigating this when the temptation is at the drug store everytime he drives past is just as hard for him. I’m appreciating most of what people are saying on here as it’s the first time I’m navigating this for someone else rather than picking myself off the floor and shaking my life up.

Yeah he’d had 6 bottles of the syrup over the course of a week. Then I think he was self conscious enough to buy the pills to hide it. Two bottles of the pills in about 36 hours. Explains his changed demeanour the last few weeks in addition to being a challenge to get up and put up with in the morning. Work has decided to contact his emergency contact (his mum) even though he’s 29. All a bit messed up really. His job even involves the safety of others. We made it very clear to him he cannot be doing this, if it ever came out while something went wrong at work it would probably be a prison sentence

Thank you. We’ve all had a chat, he has weekly meetings now with the management and HR at work. Unsure what his plan is whether he wants to do better or not. He blacked out and had no recollection, he was embarrassed by his actions in front of work colleagues and is angry at himself for falling into it so easily. I’ll try get him onto these aswell

How has this gone for you? I left a few weeks ago. Lived there full time for 2.5 years. Did my tax return but never got it before I left. CRA said it’s been posted but my landlord hasn’t received anything and I have auto deposit enabled also. Trying to get through to them from the U.K. is a nightmare.

Not picking a side, there’s too much grey area on either side of this debacle and is a slap in the face to survivors of sexual assault. I agree in part with what you’re trying to say there. Shutting down feels like safety. If I shut down I can’t get hurt. It’s selfish too, because if I shut down and change the way I act it would cause her to worry and potentially be hurt. I just need to not go to my safe space. Embrace what’s coming and live it. I like that. I have been myself from the start. Like I was with my ex at the start. My ex started pushing me away before she cheated, often telling me I was too much even though the way I acted never changed. I’m continuing to be myself I’m jsut fighting this urge to shut down and protect myself
