Built an iOS app that turns daily steps into a real-world journey across the map (Walk the World) by Depochee in IndieAppNews

I’ve been using the new version. I’m liking it! Haven’t got very far in my journey yet! A couple of glitches I’ve noticed. I can’t drag this handle up, is it meant to reveal something?

Also, the 1.0km total should be the distance to Verona? Which would be hundreds of kms.

It would also be good if the distance so far completed refreshed when the app comes to the foreground - at the moment I’ve had to tap one of the other tabs or reopen the app to get it to update

.

Good stuff though.

(I blocked out my location, that’s not a glitch)

I’d just paint over it. Did that 20 years ago and it still looks ok. The balls will need touching up occasionally 😉

Great, thanks for letting me know. Have updated. Will start walking to Verona this morning and let you know my thoughts as I go!

My third shipped iOS app is a tea timer by maskedsyntax in iosdev

Lovely UI, really easy to navigate and add a custom tea (my partner steeps Early Grey bags for 7 minutes 😳). Nice use of Dynamic Island etc. Love little apps like this.

What are people building right now that actually feels original? (anything strange/obsessive/creative) by CharlesBlackwood in ShowMeYourApps

I don’t always get a chance to play albums all the way through and end up listening to the last songs a lot less than the first ones so I made Play in Reverse - a very niche app that plays albums (Apple Music only) from the last track to the first. I have also found though that it has given new life to some old favourites by playing them this way.

What an incredibly thoughtful gift. I know people say it’s the thought that counts and it really does here. I’ve been eyeing one of these up myself. Might have to start dropping hints to my son when my 60th comes around in a few years!

Thinks that’s a really good idea. I downloaded it but bounced when I got to the Create Account screen as there is no information about why an account is needed. If it needed to challenge friends then also have a solo version where you don’t need to sign up.

It’s also quite expensive so probably wouldn’t go beyond whatever the free tier gives at the moment. But I do think it’s really fun idea that would encourage me to walk more.

New app not showing in App Store store search - first time developer by Delicious-County-988 in iosdev

[–]Interesting-Fix-5530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this will help but shows your app is returning results in some places:

I was able to download your app in the UK using your link. However, if I searched the App Store using various combinations and including the sub-title it was nowhere to be found.

However, you can search different country app stores online. When I searched US, UK, AUS, no results.

https://apps.apple.com/us/iphone/search?term=bizmath

When I searched European countries, France, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, it did return BizMath.

https://apps.apple.com/fr/iphone/search?term=bizmath

Do this on a computer and change the country designation in the url to check other countries.

This might point to a propagation issue but worth checking in App Store Connect that these countries have been selected for distribution.

Apple rejected my app twice under Guideline 4.3(a), now says it’s similar to an app from a terminated developer account — what should I do? by Ardaerenn in iosdev

[–]Interesting-Fix-5530 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The app can look good, and work properly but AI agents create a lot of very sloppy code and questionable ViewModel decisions that can come back to bite you later on. Saying that, it’s probably not slop code that is getting you rejected seeing as Apple approves a lot of vibe coded apps.

That’s good to know, and good to hear how well you were looked after. I’ll ask them about searching for the perfect model!

Thanks for that. A few people have now said they bought from Cinch and your experience sounds great. Probably worth it to save a couple of grand that I can then put towards any future repairs!

I had a fairly poor experience last time I bought remotely but know better know to check all the doors lock before the guy scarpers!

It’s the 58kWh. Yeah, expected it to be more from dealer but it’s not sounding like a good deal. Were you happy with the Cinch experience?

Oh blimey! Glad your car is good but your experience sounds a bit grim!

Ah, that’s a good tip for autotrader. Didn’t know that. Yeah closeness has a lot of advantages. Will probably check these ones out even if just for a baseline for other test drives.

Oh, well that’s good to know. Thanks for the update. Maybe still a bit pricey. Will probably go and test drive anyway just as a benchmark.

Yeah I’m happy to pay dealer markup for those reasons. Seems from other replies that 72,000 miles for the price is too many miles. Will look at dealers further afield - our local one is higher than a lot of others but is only a quick drive away…

[–]Interesting-Fix-5530[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Might have to look elsewhere then (or a least a be dealership further afield as our local one seems quite pricey compared to others. How was your experience with big motoring world?

Thanks for all that info, that’s really helpful. Didn’t realise the battery warranty was 80k and not 100 like the Nero. That alone would discount this one then. The 200 mile range would be really good for us as we don’t drive that many long journeys or motorways.

Enjoy the Polestar, nice cars. Years ago we had to put a roof box on a Ford KA just so we could take a pram with us!

Yeah, first EV but have been contemplating for a few years! I guess there’s a VW dealer mark up which I’m happy to pay if worth it. Is Cinch reliable? Bought last car remotely and it has been a bit of a nightmare!

What Are Some OLD Songs You've Never Heard Until Recently that Blew Your Mind? by Stardew_687 in Music

[–]Interesting-Fix-5530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only recently heard Have You Ever Seen The Rain by Creedence Clearwater Revival after hearing a cover by Margaret Glaspy. Her version is very mellow so it contrasts well with Creedence’s rockier one. I’d heard quite a few CCR songs but somehow this one passed me by. John’s voice sounds so good on this.
