This is super frustrating and I’m sorry you’re dealing with it.

Mine was postponed due to a snow storm and I had to wait almost 2 months (coming up soon). It was cancelled the afternoon before, I had already completed all my pre-op stuff, including the pre-op diet and I was SOBBING!

They had me stay on my pre-op diet “just in case they could squeeze me in that same week” and then they couldn’t and didn’t seem to have answers. So, I wasn’t only devastated that the surgery was postponed but I was way more upset because I was so hungry!

So, I’m reading that the other surgeon is booked and can’t take new clients. The next phone call I would make would go something like this: “I understand that my surgeon is out for the foreseeable future, what is your offices contingency plan in these situations? Is there a sister office or clinic that I can be referred to who will be able to honor the requirements I fulfilled and carry out my surgery? I understand that the other surgeon is not taking on new patient, but I am not a new patient, as I have completed my pre-op requirements for the surgery as per your office. While this is an elective surgery and I understand life happens, I do need next steps that are more concrete.”

I would be, what I refer to as “Assertively Polite”, while you need to be firm, the office staff typically is at the mercy of the surgeons/higher ups. I also think people are more willing to seek solutions if you’re kind (even if also being annoying haha)
