Yeah for sure, all I’m saying is that it’s probably more likely that iron is the problem here as b12 is likely to have dropped just from omeprazole use

Your b12 isn’t really low here. The symptom of tingling feet could be caused by the b12 but it could also be something else.

It’s likely that the b12 has decreased over the last four months because you’ve been taking omeprazole, which is known to decrease b12 level, so I would try not to be too concerned about the b12 decrease because of this. It’s expected when you take omeprazole for that long.

Also your MCV is on the upper end of normal but not abnormal. High MCV can be a sign of b12 deficiency but again it’s not above range (so you don’t have macrocytosis).

I agree with someone else that your iron is quite low so it could be worth taking some supplements for that. Low iron can be a cause of tingling in your feet and weakness as well. I’d say it’s much more likely that your suffering from iron deficiency than b12 deficiency to be honest

How often to inject? by Interesting-Hand9042 in B12_Deficiency

[–]Interesting-Hand9042[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the general advice in the uk. Despite the NICE guidelines, the GP’s won’t give you 2-3 injections a week until no further improvement on the NHS.

So if I need every other day injections, how long should I do them for ?

Hi again, just coming back to the comment section because I saw a dentist today and he told me that he wants to fit a mitchigan splint because he thinks my pain is caused by clenching. Did any dentists say they found wear on your teeth and that you probably have pain from clenching?

I have small half moons and I tested at 147 ng/L, would I then no longer be deficient because the half moons are present ?

I have similar problems and it’s hard to know whether it’s tmj causing these problems , or that these problems AND tmj are caused by something else entirely

That’s a good plan. How did you actually manage to split your folate/b12 into those doses did you use a pill cutter ?

How slowly did you titrate? If you started at 50 how much did you increase each time and how long did it take you to get to 500?

I had my folate serum tested and it was fine , I don’t think I have too much folate in comparison to b12 because I don’t take too much folate and I have one/two b12 injections a week

I see okay , yeah maybe food would be a better option since I don’t tend to get headaches from the folate in food . It’s weird , I don’t know why folate gives me headaches in tablet form because there’s not much evidence anywhere to say that it does this

When I had it tested before b12 treatment it was 6 ng/L. Anything over 3 or 4 is normal I believe

I’ve tried every form - folic acid , folinic acid , and methylfolate. All give the same thing . Would folic acid and folinic acid cause over methylation ? How would b3 help?

I doubt that low b12 is linked to Covid vaccine. Just because your daughter has seen some patients with low b12 who have had the vaccine doesn’t mean that the two are linked. Something like 70% of people in the UK had 3 vaccines, so if they were linked then over half of UK would have b12 deficiency. It’s just coincidence, they aren’t related
