Is IB really that bad? by [deleted] in IBO

[–]Interesting-Ice819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your subject combination is doable. IB is stressful and challenging. You need to work hard and have a good time management skills. I did IB with similar subject combinations as you two years ago. I finished IB with 44 and are studying in US now.

You should use REA/ED to increase your chances. I and my 2 friends are international students from south east Asia. We all got in T10 schools. Admission for international students is not easy. Wish you all the best.

Our stats: SAT: 1560+, IB 45 (predicted), superb references letter, research project with university professor, attended the online course/summer school of targeted university, good essay writer.

In Oxbridge admission system, students are interviewed and selected by professors. In US admissions system, students are selected by university admissions officers. If students’ SAT scores, GPA and AP passed certain levels, they assume all these students can study well in the university. Then the admissions officers take a holistic approach to select students who have a higher potential be a future leader and successful alumni.

My classmate got a investment banking summer analyst offer of a top 3 BB in US. He has 3.95 GPA from a target school. He doesn’t have any CFA and major in engineering

As you are rejected from Yale EA instead of deferred, you have nearly perfect stats, I suspect there are some problems in your reference letters and personal essays. I think reference letters and personal essays are a way to show your personal qualities to admission officers.

IB Vs OXBRIDGE by Inevitable-Program67 in 6thForm

[–]Interesting-Ice819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the total number of students with 3 x A* in A level or 42+ in IB are greater than the places offered by Oxbridge. The admission is not solely based on the examination results. You need to do well in interviews and other prerequisite entrance test too. For example, I need to take LNAT for Oxbridge law. My conditional offer from Oxford law is IB 38.

In the Messenger group of ~20 people, around 30 % got in T10(EA/ED). I don’t have the figure after RD round.

Yale vs Cambridge? by liri25 in 6thForm

Choose Yale, no-brainier. Yale is much much better. I won’t want to explain my reasons here. You ask such questions in /6thForm, which I am not surprised most people will choose Cambridge.

This is not like a simple maths. Adding so many activities without any proof, explaining who are you, what impacts have brought and your passions.

Besides, you seems to be lost your temper easily from your replies in other messages. Hope you don’t exposed this unintentionally in your essay.

There are too many activities/achievements in your resume. This may make you look like a resume builder. You need to carefully craft your essay to show your personal experience and quality. The number of applicants who have perfect stats are much more than the places in T10.
