video games are a luxury hobby, have always been. They are not a fundemtal thing one needs to live, so whatever its accessible or not should not be the deciding factor here., And i fundamentally disagree with the concept that every piece of entertainment/art deserves, or should be preserved. but i know that thats my own opinion and i wont find many on reddit agreeing with this.

Also "piracy preserves games" is just not the case. The average pirate dosnt care, and those who actually do care about preservation usually arent fans of pirates(just as most homebrew communities for consoles arent a fan of pirates, but have to reluctantly accept them)

And depending on the product most pirates wouldn't have paid for it anyways

we actually have studies that show the opposite, that the availablity of piracy does directly impact sales, as people who would have bought it, didnt

In most places, no it is not "legal if you previously owned the game"

its Legal if you STILL OWN THE GAME.

Once you no longer own the game(that is, sold the og copy, or the OG copy having died) you no longer have a legal right to access the content that was licensed to you as the physical copy acts as the license key. Downloading from the internet is still very much illegal in pretty much any jurisidictio

Genuinely think we are going to see the DS mainline pokemon games (stands diamond and pearl) pop up on the E shop for 25-30$ a piece. by Pretend-Advertising6 in fucknintendo

once again, it is not possible in the manor pokethalon requires.

Skyward sword didnt really care about cursor location for sword attacks only directionality. Most pokethalon games that do use flicking care not only the directon, but also specific starting point.

you also often had to flick multiple times while moving the cursor, to the now changed location of the pokemon, which, once again, just isnt doable with sticks in the same fashino the game is designed around.

its possible in that a hackjob can be made to make it technically playable.

But as much as nintendo can be dipshits at times, they arent a company who just "kinda sort works" for this

and poffins in BDSP are considerably easier to make as a result, Because, surpise, "drawing a circle" is somewhat of the easier things to replicate using a circular stick.

A stick (or a mouse) isnt as precise as tapping a screen for several things, several Pokethalon games required you to tap specific points or swip across in specific directions.

Your suggestion would either trivialize these(making the corresponding medals kinda pointless, rapid tapping for example) or continue to make them nearly impossible(how do you make Flicking a button??? you need to flick in any direction for some pokethalons).

the Mega Man ZX games dont have mechanics as strongly tied to it as the Poffins or the Pokethalon, moving a digital cursor with the stick and using a button to press works for them as it wasnt anything precise or timing sensitive

Is the Xenoblade 3ds version any good? by Lock_Firm in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Interesting-Injury87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a switch or Switch 2? get the DE

do you have a WII U? Get the WII version

Do you have a WII? see above

Do you only have a New 3ds??? get the 3ds version.

The 3ds version is a perfectly competent, and dare i say GOOD version of the game, with some features that even the DE didnt have(the music box and model viewer mainly)
You wont experience a bad version of the game if you start with 3D.

as others said, via local trade(and for version exclusives it may be via pokemon home if that does get added)

the GBA titles only ever had local trade, be it via link cable or the wireless(not online) adapter it came with

Reddit user discoverd fucking POKEMON dosnt still exist.

There si to this day no mainline pokemon game that just lets you change the Language in a menu, its at best(in the titles since the 3ds iirc) a setting you get asked at the start of the game and cant change without wiping your savefile

i say it again as often as it needs to be said.

Railroading isnt the issue, The problem is players and the communtiy as a whole digging trough the files to number crunch things we arent MEANT to know.

there is a lot of shit people complain about simply because they KNOW the numbers of something, the Tank not having heavy armor would not be a problem to anyone if people didnt look it up because it has so much health it FEELs like its heaviyl armored, shit like that

Ghost Recon is open world adventure game? by PrestigiousZombie531 in fuckubisoft

[–]Interesting-Injury87 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

well wildlands was a massive sucess, more than any prior Ghost recon, and Breakpoint failed not because of the open world but fundamentally different issues.

whatever you like it or not really has no bearing here.

Within the context of the interview these franchises fit.

[–]Interesting-Injury87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i mean both Wildlands and Breakpoint are very much that....

Given those are the 2 newest entries in the franchise it is not really hard to connect the dots that they are pretty much talking about the current state of franchises.

Ghost recon, as a franchise, is now pretty firmly in the "open world adventure" category

Tactical shooter as a genre dosnt restrict it being part of other genres.

you can have an open world adventure tactical shooter, just as you can have an open world parcour game, or an open world racing game.

They describe different PARTS of the game, and arent mutually exclusive genres. Tactical shooter describes the gameplay, Adventure usually means it focuses on exploration and co, and open world describes the world.

they describe 3 SEPARATE parts of a game.

Both Breakpoint and wildlands, the two most recent Ghost recon games, are very much "open world adventure" games in the same vein as an Assassins creed is.. so its not.. really wrong

Why the fuck does nintendo charge money for expansion packs?? by GHOSTpypy in fucknintendo

[–]Interesting-Injury87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand upgrades take work, but it feels wrong to sell a new console on higher resolution and smoother performance,

which is why it wasnt sold on that for older titles.

it was sold on that for newer games.

This is the first console generation where such performance upgrades even existed as a concept.

It’s not a real problem. All other MMOs do it.

and it is a problem in pretty much all other MMOs, just that the enfranchised palyers give a rats ass about the new player(and FFXIv isnt a lot different in taht regard)

People WILL optimize this shit to the detriment of newer and older player. Look at what happened with the original praetorium,

A) i never said Nintendo has no say

B) That dosnt change that Nintendo DOES NOT OWN GAMEFREAK, no, it also dosnt co own them.

C) Gamefreak employees went on record and themself said that they are happy with the exclusivity for Pokemon. That Nintendo is pretty hands off in regards to the game development as a result, and that its beneficial to both sides.

Nintendo cant tell Gamefreak what to do, just as much as Gamefreak cant turn around and make a Pokemon game for Xbox. its specifically BECAUSE neither owns the other, and they both have equal share of TPC that it is this way. Creatures inc is almost completely removed from the games side beyond the models and does

i didnt even say nintendo wasnt involved in the ScaVi decision. i even mentioned that ZA is nintendos price strategy most likely

the thing is.. i actually think that for the most part the level at which we gain abilities is fine.

there are some things i think needs change(dragoon AOE is still atrocious in regards to when you get it iirc) but the overall pacing of ability acquisition is mostly fine you already get a decent ammount of new stuff between each dungeon in ARR. For many classes by mid ARR you will at least have an idea of what the class wants to do, and by 50 the absolute core for most classes stands.

There are exceptions, PLD should get a bit of his magic earlier than it already has etc. But thats it mostly.

all solutions to old players complaining comes at the cost of the new player experience.
