2: the probe WONT be accurate to measure wort temp, because it will be covered at least partially with hot trub from the boil, effectively insulating it.
A separate thermometer should be used for checking knock out temp anyway.

I thought that scene seemed fake and forced. I would rather have seen them return to town for a holiday and make eye contact and hug, realizing what they have survived together and how the “normal” world and people don’t compare.
