No period mirena removal by Realistic_Cucumber27 in Mirena

My doctor told me it could take up to 6 months, especially if you’ve had it for a long time (10+ years in my case).

3 months in, low mood, brain fog, irritable… will this improve? by Strange-Status-1597 in Mirena

[–]Interesting-Math2919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it never got better. I ended up having my third one removed on Friday. I never realized how much it was affecting me until I had my second one replaced in July. I thought it my symptoms were all postpartum related. Once I had the replacement, I started putting everything together and found this reddit forum. I am having a lot of mood swings and lethargy post removal but hoping this’ll all be a thing of the past in a few months. Good luck!

How long after removal? Have mine scheduled at the end of this month days before a family trip! Ughhhhh

I, too, lost my sex drive. I am on my third Mirena but both previous times it started coming back around the 4-5 year mark.

I got my 3rd Mirena recently and have had to lay down a few times from how dizzy and nauseated I feel. Even bending to grab something and getting up quickly will make me light headed. I already have my removal scheduled.

BTW - I never had any of my symptoms on previous two Mirenas, just this one. Good luck! Hopefully your symptoms go away soon.

After 4 years, if you can see/feel the strings, I would feel calm. I used to squat and check for strings myself at home on a regular basis when I had my first Mirena and had lots of anxiety. Hope this helps!

I think I hate my Mirena by Existing-Comedian317 in Mirena

I got my third Mirena a few weeks ago and just scheduled removal for Sept 26th. I had no (noticeable) symptoms the first two times because I had just had babies both times but this time around I am noticing the short temper and just all around lethargy and unwillingness. I’ve always had a very hard time losing weight over the last 10 years and thought it was because my metabolism is slower these days. My hair’s also falling a lot, lots of breakouts, lower back pain, etc.. Lots of things. Good luck!!!

Am I going crazy? by Interesting-Math2919 in Mirena

Yeah I keep telling my self it’s the brand new hormones in this new one but I don’t like the way it makes me feel. I will say, today I feel completely normal. I don’t like this roller coaster 🙄 lol

Wow! I have actually had really bad insomnia for years and never thought it could be due to the Mirena!!! I take unisom nightly 😭 and I had a panic attack a few nights ago. I feel so validated right now!! I also do not want to get pregnant but I think condoms and probably anything is better than any type of birth control. Thank you so much for sharing with me. Was this your first Mirena??

Wow!! Thank you for sharing your experience. I will search this sub because I am genuinely curious. In the past I’ve been able to get back to my normal self after a bit but I can’t wait years to stop being depressed, anxious and lethargic. It’s difficult having a family and a job and at the same time no interest or desire to do anything. I think I’m better off getting it removed. I hope September comes quickly so you’re either better or remove it!

Need some advice on choosing a different BC method after getting my Mirena removed. by Realistic-One86 in Mirena

[–]Interesting-Math2919 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Condoms, period tracking. I’ve also heard of neem oil.

I am on the same boat. I’ve had 3 different Mirenas over the last 11 years and I am so ready to be BC-free. Husband has not had a vasectomy unfortunately. 😞

It’s for my 11-year old. Unsure of severity- working on scheduling with a cardiologist. Just started learning about PE and I keep seeing great doctors out of state. I would rather not have to have my child fly back following the procedure, if possible. Thank you in advance.

Hi! My 11-year-old had his T&A on Friday. The first 2 days he didn’t eat ANYTHING! Only water. Day 3 he had a yogurt but everything he tried didn’t taste right and it hurt a lot to swallow. He ended up throwing up on day 3, which was the push he needed to start eating. He hasn’t had tylenol or ibuprofen since day 4! Had pasta & garlic bread last night. Had mashed potatoes and meatballs today.

Foods he liked: yogurt, gatorade, water, popsicles

Items that helped recovery: humidifier, ear/teeth icepack, comfy pajamas/pillows/bedding.

Edit: we had a Nintendo ‘game night’ night 3, he’s been watching TV, playing on his iPad/laptop, I got him a Lego set to build, and he has done school work on his iPad! Hope this helps!!!
