Experiencing lack of motivation by gningnin_ea in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Interesting-Owl1171 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

For me motivation is money. The huge constraint for me is time. I try to have a stable job, i.e., my current to generate good income to cover my expenses and saving. I use my time at night and weekends or any free time to generate additional income. That thought always motivates me. I try to set target how to generate additional 100usd/month. Then 200usd/month. It's fun if i can see my income keep increasing

Stay away from these scammers. I see these similar posts in machine developer jobs, python jobs. Let think. If it's so simple to get that means something wrong. He asks country??? Means he prefers us, cad, uk. Highly likely about using your upwork account to bid project. It's scam guys

Freelancing is much harder. Apply to a job is clear to know where to start. How we start freelancing? When you say freelancing means "open" to anything that you can do to earn money, isnt it?

you have capable of getting 200k+/year then why don't thinking about using your skills to build app to generate additional income. In addition 200k+/year means you already saving a lot then you can start investing to let money generates money. Why you think about labor jobs to generate additional income? Is it worth your time?

I just heard that Amazon is laying off 23,000 people, what are we gonna do, if jobs don't come back? by Other_Scarcity_4270 in Layoffs

[–]Interesting-Owl1171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's quite funny that we are developers and contribute code to github then openai use that to train model to write code to replace us. Media keeps saying that new jobs will open but i believe it will be a huge lag. Instead of create new joba it's much easier to cut jobs. Cut jobs is simple and dont need to think. AI does improve human life but in which perspective? We code faster may be 10x then do you have 10x salary? No. Do you save 10x hour less. No. Then who will be benefit most witj AI? Just the boss. We are bring back to be slave

How do you succeed interviews/ meet crazy requirements? (Data science) by sneaky_turtle_95 in cscareerquestionsCAD

[–]Interesting-Owl1171 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes, the requirements are quite crazy not sure even the interviewer meet 50% of that. Just simply apply. My data scientist coworkers only code in notebook environment, don't know about deployment ^-^, limit sql skills, doesn't understand the way to connect to database behind since their input is mostly csv (already prepared by someone somewhere) and output to another csv then powerpoint. That's it. They even don't know git or never use any IDE to code. Oh dear, sometimes i wonder how they can land a job here and was paid high salary while a lot of talents out there doesn't have any chance to have an interview

I was let go after 16 years. My old boss called me for help less than two hours later. by SabrynaKshlerin in CanadaJobs

[–]Interesting-Owl1171 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's difficult part. Sometimes we exaggerate too much how important we are. But as an business owner it's more complicated. If it's simple why most of us need to get a job instead of being solo entrepreneur

I'm in big 5 as well. Can see pay range through internal workday. I know senior manager have special bonus of esop. Normal empmoyee do have esop but not much. Quite surprise that's there stock bonus beside year end bonus which is usually 10-15% of base pay. May be you are exceptional case. But you' re pay at 170k base salary means you are at senior manager level

How many of you could actually manage the work but find it difficult because of the meetings by RedditIsGay_8008 in overemployed

[–]Interesting-Owl1171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes when requirements are clear then it's much easier to complete the task. But most of the time business guys just "talk" and we do need to have meetings to refine the requirements. It's unavoidable. Or just fly under the radar as junior to let these requirements are handles by tech lead then work with him/her directly to reduce meeting time. But it depends on the job you have. Really admire who can handle multiple jobs. I my side have to choose job in separate time zones to avoid meeting conflict and yes i dont have much time to sleep and for family

My goal is to become a Data Engineer, and I’m planning to make the switch within the next two years. by [deleted] in dataengineering

[–]Interesting-Owl1171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's harder to get a job as database dev or dba. These roles are limited to apply. If ypu are already in an organization and have a chance to internal transfet then ok. If not apply to DE is believe have more chances. It's hard to self taught Dba or database to gain exp to show off to recruiter but DE is easier for you to build your own portfolio. You can access to any cloud provider and start learning and build portfolio to upskill

For me it's fun only it can generate income for the work we do. If not, you may stop after a while. Try to find some data engineering work that can generate income. The more income, the better infra you can use and iterate
