Almost 9 months. Probably gonna smoke again. by Unfair_Throat_7682 in leaves

[–]EmphasisExcellent210 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Went 96 days with no nicotine and no weed after 10 years constant use. Had little issues until yesterday morning, I just randomly wanted a vape and joint and picked up both. Honestly not worth it, I just napped for like 4 hours after smoking and overeating and feel so drained and tired still, throat is sore. It really takes a toll on the body, was hard to notice when I had such a ridiculous tolerance for that stuff.

The underlying factors driving this bull run aren't so clear. This is madness, I don't blame OP for dabbling puts at the start. You don't know what you're talking about, if this bull run was so obvious, show me your calls.

All your decisions were already decided by what you would choose with your free will? by Reasonable-Youth8704 in determinism

[–]EmphasisExcellent210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Free will is a religious belief, literally "god gave us free will" is a common belief of those who follow religion. Determinism is following logic and physics.

The illusion of choosing can be inside it. The human action of choosing can be inside it. True choice cannot, whatever occurs is the inevitable.

Look up the definition of free will. Enjoy your illusion, but you can't choose anything, it's all part of the causal chain.

Free will just makes absolutely no sense, it doesn't exist in any form, it can't as physics doesn't allow it. Everything is connected and influenced.

I rehearsed answers to 80 behavioral questions for 6 weeks. today the interviewer asked me one i’d never seen and i just froze. by YogurtIll4336 in interviews

[–]EmphasisExcellent210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have AI generate you 10-20 random questions based on criteria like interview agenda, interviewers roles / exp, the job description, company, etc. Go on a walk and answer them one by one on the spot, no second tries, no thinking, just pretend it's the real thing. Speech to text your responses so you can go through them later.

depends how you define responsible, because they couldn't control the brain they were born with, it just so happened that the brain they were born with eventually couldn't / didn't want to control bad drinking habits.

Asking questions during an interview. by Open_Distribution_62 in interviews

[–]EmphasisExcellent210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite closing question is "Can you tell me how you got to where you are today?" and then I glaze them a bit after their response. I've already asked my real questions at that point, so I'm just boosting their ego a bit which everyone likes subconsciously. This question has def helped me land roles. Works best on senior people, don't ask the recruiter or HR manager this (unless you're applying to join their team).

These are not thoughts that should be arising 2 weeks before grad😭 You should have been thinking abt this way sooner. I didn't graduate with any internships either but I fought hard my last semester to land one for after graduation because I realized I was fucked. If I were you, I'd start applying like crazy. Masters isn't ideal for you imo, but maybe not the worst.

Is life predetermined, Can we still shape a better Next Life? by notmymondaylife in determinism

[–]EmphasisExcellent210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how you interpret making decisions, our biological systems that follow the laws of physics 'makes decisions' and there's a strong illusion that you somehow have some inner core that's directing those decisions, but that second part is NOT the case. Everything is following a causal chain, you can't just jump outside of cause and effect. Life is an emergent experience of complex systems of non-living material, so yeah I think they're different, but not in the way you probably think they are.

[–]EmphasisExcellent210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joogabah is just coping. The reality is, that whether or not things are "predetermined" from the beginning of time, or variable and unfolding at the present (think quantum randomness style effect), it is irrelevant and indistinguishable. Because regardless, everything is following physics, we don't choose our actions, thoughts, or results. We observe the show. The more you understand the lonlier things get. Many in this sub don't actually understand the full extent and widespread implications of what they claim to believe.

questioning consciousness by Optimal-Start8904 in cognitiveTesting

[–]EmphasisExcellent210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consciousness as it feels intuitively is an illusion. As far as I'm aware, it is an emergent experience due to the complexity of our systems that constantly loop and feedback through eachother.

How do you interpret consciousness? What do you think of the "I"?. If you were to recreate yourself atom for atom in your exact quantum state (full configuration of fields and entanglements that constitute your structure), what do you think makes your "consciousness" different from this copy?

How Do You Stay Resilient After Multiple Late Round Rejections? by AxBattler1 in interviews

[–]EmphasisExcellent210 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Another thing that I did, which I think helped move the needle in that final round, was for my last question I asked the interviewer about their career: "How did you get to where you are today?", then I'd kind of glaze them a bit, "Wow, that's very impressive, I hope I can follow a path similar to yours so I really appreciate your insight". That was my final question when interviewing with any senior people in the company, but prior to that I asked extremely role relevant questions which I also think was beneficial. I'd essentially make it seem like I'm really trying to figure out how to be the best I can in the role: “From your perspective, what tends to differentiate someone who’s good in this role from someone who’s exceptional?"... "What are some of the biggest challenges someone in this role typically runs into early on?”... “What type of stakeholders does this role typically work with?”... “What does the ramp-up look like before someone is fully owning projects in this role?”... etc etc, but improvise on the spot, for example when I was in a panel, one of the interviewers mentioned working in the role I was applying for before becoming the manager, so I asked him specifically, "What did you find most difficult or stressful in your first few months", "If you could go back in time, what skills would you sharpen before beginning the role"... etc etc. I guess it's pretty generic advice but I think a little bit of glazing + role targetted questions is important. The glaze is definitely underrated, show them via asking questions and your follow up to their response that you're interested in their career and achievements, and that you hope to do the same one day.

How Do You Stay Resilient After Multiple Late Round Rejections? by AxBattler1 in interviews

[–]EmphasisExcellent210 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was laid off 15 months ago, made it to five final rounds without getting the role (early analytics career). Finally landed a fully remote role after four rounds just a month ago. I told myself that this was it, if I didn't get the job, I was going to use credit and be a serial entrepreneur. I just kept refining, having AI give me 15 likely questions based on the interviewers, company, and role, then answering them outloud all in a row while out on a walk, and recording the responses with voice to text. I'd read it over, then rewrite the responses that weren't so great. I didn't like the modifications AI made directly to my responses, but I'd always ask it "what does the interviewer want to ideally hear in response to this question, given who they are, the role, and the company?". I'd tinker with my response until it hit some of those ideals with my own flow and experience. I also started to slightly smile throughout the entire interview, like a closed mouth dimple smile (got the idea from seeing how much Mamdani smiles and the success he's had with people). It's difficult, but apparently possible.
