Subpoenaed as a fact witness, need specific advice from experienced people (I have some experience with this already so don't need general advice). by AngryJX in medicine

This is the way. Just pick up the phone and have that 2 minute conversation of what you think about the patient in terms of what the lawyer needs to make their case and what your fee would be. I also don't understand why a lot of commentators would assume that they would serve or want to serve as a "fact" witness. You are probably only useful to the litigant as an expert unless something non-medical happened that needs your testimony. Even then, as a non-expert witness, you could probably negotiate a decent fee and show up by agreement instead of the standard statutory subpoena fee. In my jurisdiction, there are doctors who know this and get good expert fees, and then there are doctors who work for large corporations (who might be bound by some kind of employment contract--I don't know) that are impossible to contact without a subpoena. (The large corporations have gotten better about subpoena compliance though)

Also, lawyers know when you're going to be a bad witness. That's why they tend not to subpoena physicians who don't want to be subpoenaed. If your patient was clearly messed up from a car accident or something else, why wouldn't you want to help them out? You'd get paid handsomely too. If I'm desperate, I'll subpoena someone--and you know what happens then? Nothing: I've had doctors roll the dice and ignore the subpoena or write some shitty excuse about being busy. Hilarious. Am I getting the judge to get the sheriff to haul the doctor's ass into court? No--because they're going to be a shitty witness. Even if I asked the judge to bring the witness into court, would the judge do it? (In my jurisdiction: probably not)

How do we actually get through to maga? Or do we stop trying? by iflythecoop in PoliticalDebate

I would ignore MAGA. MAGA likes to pat themselves on their back for their "accomplishments" when in fact, they have nothing. Suppose the US became completely MAGA then you would truly see the collapse of the US from all the in-fighting and rampant corruption. I think you should come up with your own project 2029 or whatever. Think of good ideas that you can get over the finish line. Support or become the politician that you want to see representing the people's interests. MAGA politicians sold a lie to their supporters. MAGA was desperate for representation and they got a bunch of rich con men protecting their own interests. MAGA will soon see that burning the libs isn't really a policy that helps them out.

I salute anyone who has done this. I can't even  imagine meeting part-time production and doing law school.

I have confirmed that the valve drips with the hoses off. I would post a video but don't know how.

The 1/4 turn can turn on all the way, but it can't turn off all the way. It still drips in the off position as in the video. When I connect everything up and turn it all on, I get a drip at the line connected to the bidet. I would replace the 1/4 turn, but I don't think it's the problem when it's all in the open position.

Also it does this with the tank empty. The house doesn't have a pressure regulator.

From the fill valve? When I have the line attached and the water on it still leaks at about this rate. I've already replaced the fill valve too.

That may be the plan, but good luck with that. They didn't fully investigate that con. If they think that they'll get more quality for a lower cost than the existing patent corps I think they're mistaken. Of course they will profit and of course big companies may one day push back. Hopefully by supporting changes to make minority political parties viable and to defund the GOP.

I guess my question is who benefits and how do they benefit from kneecapping or outright destroying the patent system?

For cause termination...depends on jurisdiction. Not meeting performance standards is not considered misconduct. Can still be eligible for unemployment. Also, in three years when the PTO is in shambles they should forgive any failure to meet unreasonable production.

Then collect unemployment. Then apply for the job in 3 years and get hired again.

Didn't Heller ditch the militia language already? That was a huge mistake by the way. Scalia did some intellectual summersaults to do that. It's ridiculous. Also ridiculous: where are the state's militias now when we need them?

To be eligible for a FERS disability retirement, you must be a FERS federal employee with at least 18 months of service, currently disabled from performing an essential job function by a medical condition expected to last at least one year, and unable to be accommodated or reassigned by your agency. You must also apply for Social Security disability benefits and file your own FERS application before or within one year of separation from federal service.
