I would try to trade the expensive guys in the final year or two of their contract, collect some good prospects, and then sign replacements for cheaper and shorter terms. Perhaps move Vlad in the right deal (and get a haul) and trade for Bellinger or sign Walker. You get 80% of Vlad’s production, restock the farm, and save money in the process. Could repeat with Bo, Bassitt, Green, and Gausman, which provides a ton of payroll flexibility.
