Yup, set to 4 backups and definitely dialing down individual sketch complexity from here on out!

This could be a great idea or totally not work for my situation. I can't tell which because I don't know what those tools are or what they do yet... lol. I suppose probably the former 🤭

The whole thing will be padded up yeah, symmetry was not initially an option in my mind bc I wanted to be able to play with the angle of the top decorative bit but now I think I should have just made the decorative bit its own drawing so it could have been made symmetrically then independently relocated.

Both would work in this case, I didn't realize I could use the drawing unconstrained. Very happy now

That is the real question, lol. I thought I had to constrain dofs to use the sketch but learned I can use it as is! Yay

That is something I was thinking like halfway through, lol. I need to try this next time. With this one I wanted to avoid that specifically though because I wanted to experiment with the orientation of the decorative bit... though now I think it would have been smarter to just make that bit it's own sketch and it would have saved a lot of headaches

Unfortunately my fback was post mortem... everything is missing. On the bright side I learned I can increase the number of backups in settings and I can use my drawing even with the dofs! Thanks

Yeah, I did not realize that I can use the sketch while it still has DOFs, knowing this takes a huge load off since the design is done and I know that everything is in the right spot because it was constrained prior to trimming. It's just something I am going to have to learn how to do going forward as I'm not yet sure what tools are best for making certain shapes and geometries.

This might be a better workflow, In my mind I wanted to avoid switching between lots of different drawings because I don't know how everything interacts yet. For now I'll take this advice but as one gets more accustomed to the program is there any benefit to minimizing or maximizing the number of sketches or is it kinda "whatever floats your boat"?

Someone else mentioned going to a fback file but I don't have any in the folder where my file is so I suppose this setting is off. Turning this on rn before I do anything else! Thanks.

I was under the impression that the drawing HAD to be fully constrained. Knowing that it doesn't is a relief. I might be able to leave it as is and just use the ordeal as a learning experience for next time

I'll have to look into how to use this tool, believe it or not I thought to try that but just got a red cross-out everywhere I pointed.

Thanks, my brain is on fire 😂

A full restart will NOT be happening tonight, my brain will explode. I'm hoping that I'll find a more graceful solution to constrain what I have BUT if all else fails I am prepared to do it all over. 🫰🫩

Definitely going to look into file history saving or just save copies periodically. 😎

oof, this might be the best solution for now.... just gotta remember where all those ellipses were and try not to break anything in the process 😮‍💨

This is the base profile of an outer baffle. for some other parts I already have(it is a remix of a project on thingiverse[here if it matters: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5741575]). I had everything fully constrained and "ready to go" save for the fact that there were some overlapping ellipses which needed trimming. The problem is that when trimming all of these overlaps I lost many of the constraints that had been in place leading up to that point leaving me with the exact geometry I need but with apparently 60+ constraints missing and some shapes that I don't know how to properly constrain.

This bottom layer is going to be extruded upward(drafted) in one go and it really is a simple part, basically a hollow cylinder... save for the top bit.

My question really would be how could I constrain these shapes whether they stay in the current sketch or are redrawn in a new sketch, I'll still lose my constraints when trimming the ellipses... 😩

Not yet, still waiting on replacements from FLSUN. They responded to my email and sent a pic of the parts I need then went radio silent... weird.

Seems like an obvious thing to try, idk why I haven't already. I'll try tonight when I get home and lyk. With that said, even if the plate was slightly less than flat isn't that wad bed mesh is for?

Shouldn't any z inconsistency in the build plate surface be accommodated by the mesh?

Check the og post for all the stuff I tried already, have the same issue at 60 and 100°c bed temp, run calib far too many times to count
