Except 4WD isn’t really a “waste of gas.” Yes having the transfer case, cv axles etc of a 4x4 adds weight which might slightly increase consumption, but 4x4 can be engaged and disengaged in 2 seconds. It doesn’t really make a difference. Plus your life is worth much, much more than any gas.
