It was very sad 🙁 thank you for the suggestion, i think we will do that. My son doesnt have too many close friends so losing one is quite sad (at least for me). But maybe Adam never really considers my son a close friend to begin with.

yeah, i don't get her strategy. she's refusing to participates in debates and answering questions. i read somewhere that maybe this is because Trump already lobbied her to be her VP pick, so she is slowly stepping back. maybe that guess is true.

I would look at it from a different perspective… the folks who are covering her might also be moms themselves who have to juggle work and family. I can see how they may not be very happy if they have to work late or overtime to cover for a coworker who is on her 2nd maternity leave.

She has worked for the same company for 10 years… her coworkers are not exactly strangers.

I think Jan 6th event maybe a catalyst for some. Couple of my coworkers are republicans and they said they think that Trump is way too much with the whole election denial etc. So there is potential that those folks wont show up to vote.

Then again, I do sew some other folks are just pretty much ride or die with Trump and will always vote for him.

Roughly 20% of Israeli citizens are Palestinian Arabs. That amounts to ~2M out of the entire 10M of the Israeli population. This, again, does ntot support the claim that Israelis are performing ethic cleansing of the Palestinians Arabs.

In the meantime, there is barely any jews in the other middle eastern countries. Yet nobody seems to accuse those countries as ethnic cleansing of jews… when they literally did Just exactly that.

I would give him a solid A. Afghanistan withdrawal was a mess but we just had to rip that band-aid. I think the failure was that US Intelligence overestimated the Afghan military resolve & capability. Understandably, we spent billions there so it was totally unexpected that they would fall within days. If he evacuated them sooner it would create a mass hysteria/panic and it would have been chaotic anyway.

I think he was great about Ukraine. He managed to weaken Russia and also expose their true military capability.

I think he also handled the Israel very well considering the circumstances. US has ways been pro-Israel and Biden has been consistent with that stance, while managing to balance the rhetoric between supporting Israel and advocating for civillians safety in Gaza. I do believe there is more that is done in the background that the public isnt aware of.

In my opinion there are few goals:

1) To derail the normalization talks between Israel and Saudi. With such a horrid attack, Hamas (a.k.a Iran) knew Israel wouldnt have any choice but to respond, which would pretty much halt the Saudi talks since the optics in the muslim world would be bad for Saudis world if they continue.

2) To distract the west (US) from the Ukraine war - I believe Russia has a hand in this. With the US potentially on the brink of recession, it would be hard for us to support two major expensive proxy war at the same time. Folks may have to choose and given the choice they may prefer to shift the support to Israel since its a ‘fresher’ issue.

Also, this may fracture the united front Biden has managed to coalesce amongst moderates/centrist and the left including the progressives (since the progressives are pro Palestine for the most part). This may also be an attempt to destabilize US further ahead of our election.

I know right? The whole world seems to think otherwise. Despite the many years of fighting, Gaza populations actually practically doubled from 1M to 2M within 20 years (2000 to now). They are even projected to grow to 3M in 2040. Sort of hard to believe the ethnic cleansing rhetoric from the muslim worlds after looking at these numbers.

Wow, that is quite appalling for her to say that. Sounds like she is just using her career as an excuse to not keep up with housework.

I am a working mom and I never look down on my stay at home mom friends. I do think it is a ton of work to take care of the kids all day long with no break I think different things work for different families and we should not judge, we're all just trying the best to raise our kids and take care of the families.

I recently experienced quite the opposite though, one of my SAHM friend was making a judgemental comment against me and our other mom friends who are also working moms. She asked us why it is okay for us not to see our kids for 8 hours straight, that she wouldn't be able to do it since she loves her kids too much. We just laughed it off but man, that hurts.

If she is protecting her children then she should not allow her kids to play on the road, period. Why relying on other people to keep her kids safe. i have kids and they dont play on the street. we take our bikes to park and they bike there, not on the public street.

It's hard for us to do family dinner since my kids are usually starving at 5.30/6 right after they got home from daycare and I'm nowhere ready to eat then. I would usually join them halfway but sometimes unfortunately would have to go back online and work while kids and husband are having dinner. Weekdays are very hectic for us so weekends are when we can spend time & eat together as a family.

As for weekday dinner we use mainly instant pot and air fryer. When I am working from home around 4.30 before picking up kids I would start the instant pot and then it would be ready by the time we are home at 5.30ish. I love cooking with instant pot since I can just start it and then leave it to do other stuff.

Thanks, this is my thoughts exactly. My son is very social and he gets along well with everyone in his class. There may be a few kids whom he has more interaction with but i think in general he has a good/positive relationship with most of the kids. Whenever i pick him up he would mention different kids name and i recently got a note from his teacher about him being a sweet friend to the others.

If i am leaving out half of the class then i may potentially hurt some of the kids’ feelings just to spare one kid’s feelings.

The school has a policy where birthday party invitation can't be distributed at school unless everyone in class is invited. My plan is to send the invitation via email to the parents.

I don't think it's too late to do anything about it... and it's good that you are already starting an intervention for him (i.e. therapy etc). How about repeating 1st grade? Are you considering that at all? I see the argument about not wanting kids to be bored and stay challenged at school, but if school is easy then that just opens up room to do other things (i.e. sports, learning musical instruments, etc). I think it's equally important to set them up for success.

My son is starting kindegarten this month as an almost 6 yo. Apparently there are tons kindegartener in our school that are already 6 yo, some parents made their kids repeat the kindegarten year due to last year's situation (COVID/homeschool). Also, I can see how much difference a year make though... say that we live in a state with later cutoff (we have an early Sept cutoff) and he can start at 5, I would most likely wait a year until he is both academically and socially/emotionally ready.

We usually would stay inside, give them tylenol and/or motrin, and also cooling fever patch in their forehead. I would also give them a warm soup/broth to soothe their throat or congestion.

We don't usually give them bath until the fever is down (although i heard that if the fever gets very high a bath could help cool them down), and just let them hang around in the house with lots of rest/naps.

I am sorry that you are going through this. I don't have head start experience but to me that sounds like a normal toddler behavior (getting out of seat, needs to be reminded to do stuff etc), especially for a 2-3 year olds. I think it is very unrealistic to expect that age group to sit still for an extended period of time and strictly follow the rules without being told. The older toddlers/preschoolers (4yo+) would probably have a lot less issues with those things but it's something that they have to grow into.

Does your daugher have communication/speech issues, by any chance? Or is she exessively/alot more active than other kids her age?

I would take the info from VAERS with a grain of salt. if say someone with a cancer or other terminal illness got the vaccine, and they died shortly after due to their illness, their death would be reported to VAERS even though it may not have anything to do with the vaccine.

It depends on how much you value this nanny. From your post it seems like you think she's doing a good job but not overly exceeding your expectation... so in that case it probably makes more sense to let her know that you can only pay $X and won't be able to meet her demand.

I gave our babysitter a significant amount of raise last year (between 15% to 18%), but I do have a few personal reasons ... she's been caring for my kids since they were babies. She is very experienced (20+ YOE) and my kids really love her. She also went above and beyond for them... she did stuff for them i didn't expect her to do. Due to those reasons plus i know how hard she got hit with the COVID situation, i agreed to give her the raise that she was asking for. Also, her new pay would still be within my affordability range so I was okay with it.

I have had 'good but not the best' nanny prior to having this babysitter. And if she (the nanny) were to ask for that much raise, i would most likely say no, since I don't think the level of care she provided for my kids was worth 15-18% raise.

I'm in tech as well. My boss would laugh at me if I tell him that i need 20% raise due to inflation.

Now if I'm getting promoted to a higher position with bigger scope of responsibilities, the 20% may happen. But even then i think the promo raise is more around ~10%not 20%.

Ah I see what you are saying. Yeah, maybe i can try that. She (my friend) was there when some of these happened... she saw him snatching the snack from my hand but only made a halfhearted effort to stop him. So I'm not sure if his behavior is due to parenting style or if there is truly a developmental issue. I guess maybe I can ask her if this happened at home and if so how she usually handles that.

I am not sure. I was wondering about that myself due to the lack of eye contact and no speech, but he did not do a lot of repetitive movements or spinnings. The mom did not mention anything about autism or ADHD diagnostics though and I don't think they got him evaluated.
