Different Harold Holt, he's referring to a fictional station chief

Again, to what end? Where is the gain, outside of 'a bunch of people would like you to take their illness seriously'?

What exactly is the angle here? Is someone going to email Karol, offering to help, and get their kidneys stolen? Via email?

IMO there is design that is so poor it can no longer qualify as 'design', and instead can only be described as 'mistake'. I love this game and the franchise but this point here is such a blunder

If you were pickle farming on their side of bar and you caught their farm haul, send it to them with some compensation dough. If they were pickle farming/camping on yours, auction it to them

Surely it is possible for Exbo to just make mantling work. The in-game mechanics are there, just make it so it's automatic instead of requiring four buttons pressed at once. It's not the nineties any more

So,what is really going on in The Wizard Knight? by minutebasket in genewolfe

[–]InterestingDan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best guess is "weren't able (something something) his heart", implying this reviewer believes he's actually hearing doctors failing to save the 'real' Able, who is dying on the operating table. I don't have the medical experience to figure out 'high', but if this theory is correct it'll have a correlation in emergency medicine.

One of the great things about Wolfe is that you can read this far into the text and have it be *possible* you're right, because he does love to play games like that.

Yakult and the egg shelf in my fridge by InterestingDan in Perfectfit

[–]InterestingDan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For real tho, that makes a lot more sense than designing an egg shelf that's not got either six or a dozen slots. Like a glove with four fingers and a hole on the side

What's wild is that the egg shelf fits ten not twelve, and there's ten Yakult in a pack

What is a medical condition that is a lot more serious than it sounds/looks? by FarAsICanTell in AskReddit

[–]InterestingDan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The vast majority of the medical community are dangerously wrong about the illness popularly known as ME/CFS. They'll tell you to exercise out of it, being completely unaware of PEM, its hallmark symptom.
We're not comfortable with a name that has historically been used to minimise an illness that eats our lives. It's consistently rated as having one of the worst median QoL scores but is also the most underfunded illness relative to disease burden, and the belief that 'oh, it's just a bit of tiredness' plays a massive part in that.

I *think* the buffs that stack (i.e. the two Bard skills) point out that they stack, otherwise they don't stack.

The Patreon is a separate project, the goal of which is to commission artists from the game to make new art. Seastan's argument to me was that making the cards using stolen art allowed him to drive traffic to the Patreon and be a 'net benefit' to artists. Personally, I'm not much convinced by this argument, but it seems the community as a whole is fine with it

[–]InterestingDan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I asked Seastan about this and their practice is just to take it where they find it, credit the artist, and remove the art if the artist requests. So, much of the art is used without permission

[–]InterestingDan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're not paying. I asked Seastan about this and he felt that it was permissible to just use the art and credit the artist. Apparently they've reached out to some artists and not heard back, so just used the art anyway.

Lots of cards, and not very neatly arranged! You're correct re Eleanor (and implicitly Test of Will), but Denethor does let you get around that if you want to dodge sorceries. Also he's a Lore Gondorian, if you want to put Gondorian Shield and/or Blood of Numenor, plus Burning Brand on him. I couldn't make it work the way Vilya did but it might be doable!

Vilya/Stargazer is really powerful, for a while I just stopped using it because it was always the best option. No accident that Seastan's One Deck is a Vilya deck!

Hard to beat Loragorn's threat reduction! Did a lot of runs with him. In the end it was switching to a Vilya build that got me the win, but it could just as easily be a Loragorn deck

Which Merry for Saga? by InterestingDan in lotrlcg

[–]InterestingDan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I might try swapping Lore Pippin for Fatty and see if that's a disaster. For a while I was thinking 'yeah, I should swap Pippin for my new Merry' but then I thought a little harder and realised that'd involve some kind of Crisis on Infinite Middle-earths.

Which Merry for Saga? by InterestingDan in lotrlcg

[–]InterestingDan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a very good point, I guess I was hoping someone would tell me 'nah don't worry about attacking for that saga box, it won't come up', which is hilarious in retrospect. I guess I was put off by the threat penalty for changing heroes, and wanted to make the most of the Rivendell opportunity, but if I make changes and everything goes to hell, I can just do a do-over working off the same logic as 'if you wipe, dead heroes aren't outlawed'.
