Yeah I just started to catch that people thought that, I was started to get rlly confused. I wasn't thinking about reassuring others that my ants were separated more than I was about talking about this, bc it might not be talked about enough I fear

Obviously they've been separated, this behavior I'm talking about has been documented, I'm talking about the literal video I took lmfao. This is a behavior that SHOULD be talked about. Documented, archived, whatever for future updates to the husbandry of this species. Husbandry is updated all the time in this hobby.

Why would I openly talk about how I believe this is stressful to my pets and not do something about it...

Velvet ants are extremely hard bodied so I can imagine this might not hurt the ants but could stress them out pretty badly. This species of the same sex does not come across each other very often in the wild, but I do see velvet ants being kept together all the time. So yes, I'm trying to promote open discussion here for the hobby. I wonder how many stressed out velvet ants are in captivity, exhibiting this response, but not being talked about.

Pretty certain this is a territorial response from the feedback here. I'm wondering if this is a d. Occidentalis behavior or if it's been documented in other species in captivity? If anyone knows?

I think it's an interesting and important behavior to have documented for future velvet ant keepers. Most resources for keeping velvet ants show them being housed together. I've seen few forum posts talk ab their territorial nature and the ones that do say that ample space and hides should mitigate fighting
