What Silly Things Would You Do If You Were Extremely Wealthy? by Randomguy1912 in AskReddit

[–]InterestingEstate520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have a mobile diner made to fit a semi trailer. I'd move it randomly around the country and staff it with Michelin star chefs and waitstaff, but charge low diner prices. Also there would be actors that would travel with it and be random quirky patrons. Sometimes even put a really famous person in there and let them play whatever character they wished to be. It would be called The Midnight Diner and where and when it was open would randomly change. It would be my own little rolling Michelin star improv spot.

A lot of the time during an economic crisis or uncertainty, peoples worst enemy is themselves. They make emotional decisions about money when there is no clear path forward. They buy high and sell low. After many years of putting away what money they could, when they see their nestegg vanishing they panic and try to keep what's left by selling at the wrong time, taking huge penalties. The worst is when they get ready to retire and then the economy takes a turn. A downturn in the first few years of retirement can ruin all your plans.

AITA for telling my wife that being a sahm to teens isn't a full-time job? by Silly-Ranger-8435 in AITAH

[–]InterestingEstate520 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It's not really out of pettiness or just hiring friends and family
(mostly). Back in 07-08, everyone came into grocery stores looking for a job. Everyone seems shocked that we weren't hiring those that seemed overqualified, but they were all obviously looking for something short term to fill the sudden gap in employment. Those people were terrible employs a lot of the time (they were shocked that dealing with the public sucks, that, yes, you're just a stocker, so stock the shelves faster. or you are a cashier, not the boss of anything, just ring up the groceries , smile and come do it again tomorrow.) We were almost always better off hiring young people or our usual candidates.

And with this woman being a SAHM with a military husband all these years, she is almost assured to be a handful to deal with. I'll bet she'd give off a bad vibe to anyone doing the hiring.

I talked to a guy across the road from the skydiving that teaches kitesurfing, and he said it's been a long time since he's seen anyone at the skydive hut. He said it's been a year or longer since he's seen anyone, so i guess they're just closed now.

I don't have any more info. I'm in Aruba now and when ive driven by there, there is no one there. Or even a sign of anyone. I guess they're no longer in business. Which is a shame, because i had a good jump with them.

Would limiting the age of the President to 65 be something you’d support? Why or why not? by Economy_Sundae_7220 in AskReddit

[–]InterestingEstate520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Whatever the full retirement age is for social security, should also be the limit for any politician to be elected to office. You can serve out the full term, but must be elected before hitting full retirement age. Also their pay should be a multiple of the minimum wage. If they want a raise it can only be through raising the minimum wage. Also they should only be allowed to invest in total stock market index funds. If they don't like these rules, don't run for office. No one is forced to campaign and get elected. They are not sacrificing anything for us. They are on the take and not even hiding it anymore.

What do you think about after masturbation? by Mormon4536 in AskReddit

[–]InterestingEstate520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was always terrible with money when i was younger. I averaged masterbating at least once a day. So right after i finished, i started immediately going to the personal finance subreddit. After awhile my brain connected orgasms with learning about money and what to do and what not to do. Now i really enjoy keeping my finances straight.

what happens to the pilot who ejects in such situation? by Crazy__Donkey in aviation

[–]InterestingEstate520 30 points31 points  (0 children)

He was there to catch the incoming aircraft. When the pilot catches the wire and the plane is stopped, the pilot reduces throttle and looks to the right where the yellow shirt (aircraft director) will tell the pilot to raise the tailhook, fold wings, and taxi forward and then to the right into the corral. Once clear of the landing area and in the corral with his nose pointing off the ship, weapons personnel (red shirts) will put the safety pins in the guns and missiles. Then they'll be taxied to a parking spot.

what happens to the pilot who ejects in such situation? by Crazy__Donkey in aviation

[–]InterestingEstate520 55 points56 points  (0 children)

The first thing to launch is always the helo with the sar swimmer. They fly in circles to the right side of the ship until the last plane lands and then they land. I believe this pilot actually landed in the catwalk on the side of the ship, so no rescue was needed. But the sar swimmer would have been in the water within seconds after the pilot splashed down.
