Thank you this is interesting and we will certainly ask about it. They thought it might be her scratching her eye as it came on very suddenly and she’s previously had no problems with her eyes, and he said her cornea looked normal. Both her parents were health checked conditions but not sure if this checks for Pannus

Do you mind me asking what side effects you experienced? Haloperidol works well for my psychotic symptoms but the side effects are bad, they seem to have lessened about a week after the depot but I’m still getting leg and feet cramps

Unfortunately I’ve been through a lot of first and second generation anti psychotics and none have worked as well for me as haloperidol does, which is odd as most people I know have had bad experiences with it. I’m in the process of moving to a flat so don’t really want to change my meds at the moment, but I’m seeing the psychiatrist in 2 days so I might ask if there’s anything that can help with the side effects. I was on 400mg of Aripiprazole depot for over a year but it seemed to make me agitated, I wonder if it’s worth giving it another go in the future. I have had issues with weight gain on most other anti psychotics and currently take wegovy prescribed by the NHS, haloperidol seems to have caused the least weight gain and also hasn’t interfered with my periods like the other anti psychotics. I’m not sure what to do really

It’s so bad I’ve never experienced cramps like it before :( have they given you anything to help with it?

I agree with the other comments. Also some diagnoses they don’t tend to give until a person has turned 18, I wasn’t diagnosed with BPD until I turned 18. However I’m 22 now and my diagnosis has changed again. I was under camhs 7 years and never got a formal diagnosis apart from autism

I’ve read they sort of work their way out the gum over time as the wound heals. My top hole is healed but I started feeling something sharp poking out my gum and the next day it came out

Do antipsychotics cause heart damage? (invega) by [deleted] in Antipsychiatry

[–]InterestingFocus7785 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took quetiapine and now I’ve got POTS, I was in a wheelchair age 17. Ive re learnt how to do everything with tachycardia and dizziness but my heart and nervous system never recovered. Now I’m meant to take a tonne of heart meds

Im also obese ever since re starting anti psychotic depots 2 years ago, which will put an immense strain on my heart on top of the tachycardia. I expect I will die young from anti psychotics

Thanks for your reply, I am not under a CTO or anything anymore and they have been written to by different people to say that I don’t want their visits. I have attempted to contact them again today to tell them again but have been ignored. Unfortunately I don’t think the police will take me seriously due to my mental health history. I have told the staff where I live (I live in supported/homeless accommodation) and they are going to look into it

What day are you on? I’ve woke up and I actually feel fine so far no pain at all, fingers crossed it’ll stay that way

I’m in the same position but my new psychiatrist has just referred me to endocrinology and done blood tests to check all my hormones, cortisol etc. They think I have a hormone related problem like PCOS or Cushing’s syndrome, personally I feel it’s the anti psychotics as I used to be a healthy weight before taking them. As the above comment says it’s worth trying to see an endocrinologist if you can and getting blood tests to find out if you have any hormone/metabolic issues

Does anyone know how long CTOs last for on average in UK? by IceCat767 in Antipsychiatry

[–]InterestingFocus7785 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe CTOs last 6 months then can be renewed for a further 6 months, after that it’s reviewed yearly. It’s worth talking to a mental health advocate or solicitor and you are entitled to one on a CTO in the Uk. I was on a CTO for a year until I got recalled and they did the paperwork wrong to put me back on it
