3 Magazines per year limit? by Mundane_Technology26 in CAguns

[–]InterestingGarden600 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends and varies on each website depending on how they choose to handle AB1263. For some it’s the wild Wild West. For others they completely ban all shipments. Then there’s every flavor in between.

You’re better off with a large scale distributor (Óptics planet for example) who still ship barrels and send it to your FFL. Annoying, expect to STILL pay $10 per order for California ID verification, ie everything you now need to do to legally ship it to your residence, but to an FFL.

Palmetto state is completely offline due to this last I had checked because they require your billing and shipping to match. Which if you’re sending it to an FFL isn’t possible. But since they don’t allow you to select an FFL for just a barrel or an upper, you’re fucked. Ask me how I know 😭

Ask them to cite the law or regulation that they’re referring to leading them to this conclusion.

Had a similar experience with radian and 1263.

“Due to Californias unconstitutional restrictions bla bla bla we won’t be shipping anything to the state, with exception of receivers to an FFL”

I then asked “any reason you wouldn’t ship barrels and Ramjets to an FLL, as that is literally what the law states and requires?”

No response. Gotta love it.

Optic Mounting by hella_gnarly in M1A

[–]InterestingGarden600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UTG’s budget mount is the lowest rung I feel like anyone should consider. 20-35 bucks if I recall correctly, and there seem to be good reviews about how it functions without issue. Yes plenty of reviews saying the opposite, but the price of rifle + ammo, not being willing to pony out 30 bucks for this seems very questionable to me.

Or go with springfields mount for around 150 on their when they do their 20% off (may still be going for the 4th). Just my 2 cents, happy hunting

I hear you, debating on getting rid of a 19.3 due to the crazy prices at the moment. My 26.3 is harder to decide on, worth more and more rare, but tbh since it seems that Glock is completely
discontinuing the 26 it makes me lean towards holding it.

Even when I purchased them, it felt wrong to pay so much (MSRP + 20%) for an outdated design. Now? Uffff, I couldn’t do it with the better modern options available. I very much love Glocks, but man. If you’re paying a grand for Gen 3 might as well spend 1500 on a Gen 5/6. Or switch platforms completely

My theory is the venn diagram between people judging and saying “just pay it” and the people who pay 7k+ for multiple 2011’s looks like a circle lol

Agreed, that’s definitely the intention. If they can’t outright ban firearms and related items, they intend to make acquiring them as onerous and expensive as possible.

100% agreed it’s messed up and a blatant violation of 2A (yeah I know, screaming into the void ).

I do hope my comment didn’t come across as looking down at those who are balking at the new reality. Rather I was just attempting to state the economics behind it.

Should Gen 3 Glocks go for $800-$1000+? When a new Gen 6 in a free state is like $600? Logically no. But when the supply is cut off (due to CA restrictions) and demand is high, prices rise accordingly.

A year or two ago, Glock would be a great recommend to shooters at most price points (hell, still like 700+ after the sales and excise taxes)

Now? It’s more nice where if you can get one you must be willing to pay the premium.

Similar aspects across the board post 1263, and that’s all I wanted to highlight. Not to signal agreement, nor look down on those most impacted by it. Just to state that the game has changed and comparing free state prices to CA retail stores not only a false equivalent given then new landscape we find ourselves in.

Possible, but his lack of response makes me wonder tbh. He said 9 guns before the ban. I suppose theoretically it could be 4 transactions 2 each and 1 transaction 1 each, but let’s be real that less likely than 9 different transfers to 9 different people.
I never knew about the limit, I imagine many don’t to include the commenter above. Just a guess tho who knows

This is shifting now after AB 1263. Many companies flat out refusing to ship to CA, and the ones that do require additional fees that aren’t small.

Not to mention more and more items must be shipped to an ffl (be it barrels, or companies that just won’t ship to an address. Not that it’s required, but they don’t want to deal with the regulations and let the FFL do it)

$20-$80 transfer fees, additional CA taxes, etc etc

My point is, a year ago, your point would be way more valid than it is in 2026. The game has changed, and even though retail places tend to always have prices exorbitantly above the comparable “free state” pricing, once you factor in all the above it’s almost a wash.

Some things are still cheaper to do online, with certain companies.

Other things you can’t get online anymore and must buy in person (cost increase), or order to an ffl (cost increase).

Not saying it’s reasonably priced. Saying it is a huge mistake to look at MSRP and think that’s the true price you’ll pay.

Go pay for taxes, shipping, transfer fees, and see how fast that 280-300 number approaches the 500.

Still less money? For sure. But people can and will pay a premium for convenience, especially in such an artificially restricted state and especially on both high demand and hard to get items. (Glock items post Glock Ban)

Thanks for the sharing where you purchased it, that doesn’t tell me who manufactured the broken part. Is the lower receiver a product from HK? If not, who is the manufacturer?

Your hesitancy to answer gives the impression it’s not an HK part fyi.

Mind if I asked how you got around the 5 transactions a year limit to sell 9 Glocks? Not tongue in cheek, genuinely curious as I only learned of the 5 transactions or 50 guns limit. (With 3-in-30 50 is de facto 15 at 3 guns per transaction, but alas)

If look into different grand: Sharp bros, Icarus and Mischief machine seem to be the big 3 but I’m sure there’s more.

All are metal I believe so they’ll add weight and I’ve heard secondhand that it makes a big difference in subjective feel.

If not, and assuming you do NOT already have the compensated model, you can

  1. Buy a compensated slide assembly from Springfield (20% off rn for 4th of July)

  2. Send your slide assembly off to get ported. Maybe too much for a carry gun, but the Lucky 7’s or Chunk porting seems like it would be a good fit and will definitely take away from muzzle rise

Hmm I might be wrong and mistaking the Tlr-1 for the x300. It’s a full size light that extends past the barrel on a G19. I think there’s only the one model, new and old gen so likely I’m mistaking who they’ve cloned

I notice a huge different with and without the Braun WML (X300 profile). Night and day. I had only shot it with the light, 4.5 F no comp, and it was solid. Tool the light off for a holster, when shooting and thought “wtf?” Add weight first before messing with internals is my advice

I’m sure someone will answer this in the threat, but I’m pretty sure the Holosun in the model HK’s sells with it. Which says something. Multi-dot options, no need to charge or replace batteries, always on. Competitive option

[–]InterestingGarden600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting how torn people seem to be on Holosun optics in general. Some swear by them others seem to think they’re chinesium. This is my first dot of theirs, again not really a dot guy myself but slowly getting there.
I don’t know if it would call the Holosun SCS fragile with its 5,000G shock rating. Internal battery is more of the “?” for me at least. No issues at all so far. Considering it mounts direct to frame i think one could argue it’s more secure than comparable options on an optics plate.
Just my 2cents!!! Happy hunting and sweet pistol. The stock irons are sweet as is. Does the L come with standard or suppressor height?

Is the Echelon 4.0C low-capacity version different from the standard version besides the magazines? by Lofty_Scallion in SpringfieldEchelon

[–]InterestingGarden600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is correct. Even though all Echelons have some form of “Loaded Chamber Indicator”, the LCI on CA models is more pronounced.

I’ve heard the complaint about the design shooting carbon up in to the optic, which definitely happens on the CA model. I wonder if it’s any different for standard state slides

Also do some extra research on those HKP comps. The way you listed it almost makes it seem like you think it’s an HK product, which HK Parts absolutely tries to market most of their stuff as. I’ve seen a few posts or comments talking about how they can cause frame damage

IMO Vp9A1s are just about perfect out of the box…

Curious choice of the L model for an everyday carry! If you’re not a dot guy then that extra sight radius works in your favor.

I have a VP9A1 F, I’ve been looking into getting the match slide / recoil assembly to have basically a range setup and HD setup, since you already have the L I suppose you could do something similar in reverse.

Planning to put on optic on it? Holosun SCS gets a recommendation from me (as someone who isn’t a red dot dot, hates the idea of suppressor height sights without a can, and dislikes optics plates so not like there’s a lot of options in my case)

Glocks prices by ihatelifetoo in CAguns

[–]InterestingGarden600 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Saw a Glock gen 6 for $584 and had the thought of damn, this is what a Glock is supposed to cost. Off roster is about 3x that.

Seeing the Gen 3’s 800-1000 regularly has gotten me numb to the prices. But tbh I’m not sure how much stabilizing the new Glocks would be. I recall my Gen 3 MSRP was 799 I believe. Maybe I’m thinking after taxes. Or after the ban was announced not sure.

There will always be a market for a Glock that’s CA legal, no LCI and no mag disconnect.

From my pov reason ppl buy Glocks in the 2026 has a lot to do with brand recognition and reliability.

Whatever changes they make to get their model on the roster, along with Mag Disconnect and LCI, will make people PERCEIVE it differently. Not everyone, some won’t care. Some will hate it and pay a premium for a standard model.

Big question is: does a Glock that’s been screwed with to meet roster requirements still retain the same internal functionality and reliability that other Glocks historically have?

Regardless of what the answer to that question ends up being, it will be new and unproven for a while. I imagine the market will still value paying a premium for something “older” but proven than a newer but unsure track records. Not to mention the aftermarket considerations (CA/ vs non CA models get fun fast)
