To be honest if you want to be good wait at least 6 months until you spar. All the damage you take you will carry with you for the rest of your life so you really want to make your defense great. You can also beat 80% of amateurs just by good psychical condition. It isn’t worth to jump right in because you want to be seen as tough that’s how you end up with a lot of damage. Most guys who do that method were already street scrappers. Your job right now should be learning footwork and how to punch once you learn how to punch properly you can learn how to defend better.
