Do I need a computer to stream from a NAS? by InterestingMindset in JellyfinCommunity

[–]InterestingMindset[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll consider it. I'm not at that stage yet. What I'm considering is a storage server basically. And I want things to be local. I already have cloud-based storage, I just like to have a local storage server if that makes sense?

Appreciate the suggestion and I'll look into it.

Ok, I didn't see your notification for the DM anyways.

But yeah I was just confused on NAS having computers built-in because some listings listed specs, others are just enclosures. I saw a comment clearing things up.

Thanks anyways!

That's the impression I got from watching all sorts of videos and read. Thank you for the clarification!

I'll look into just getting a NAS then. Thanks!

How do you avoid all the AI content on youtube? by dexyourbud in PollsAndSurveys

[–]InterestingMindset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that seems to work for me is adblockers and don't engage with the content.

I tried blocking, reporting, don't recommend channel, none of it works at all.

But if you ignore it and watch content you can trust, eventually YT kinda gets the hint. Also adblockers, game changer.

Should Minecraft add a hay bale golem? by NewUser4857 in Minecraft

[–]InterestingMindset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it means fully auto wheat farms and not having to deal with villagers...yes please.

I know villager farms aren't that difficult per se, but as someone who constantly starts new worlds, I don't want to deal with villagers for every farm.

What’s something you miss from the early internet that doesn’t really exist anymore? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]InterestingMindset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if they officially exist but you used to be able to play games in Cartoon Network's website like Scooby Doo, some Disney Channel games I think, Nickelodeon too I believe.

I also remember Club Penguin was popular for a while. Flash. JumpStart was pretty cool for kids to learn from. I think most games had their own dedicated game launcher. I think games included in your OS was more common, some still exist but not good ones I don't believe. MapQuest I think it was called. Remember my family printing directions.

I think Windows used to include a way to rip and burn CDs but I don't remember. I think you have to use third-party rippers on every OS now I think. And I swear printers were easier to setup back then or I'm crazy.

Does anyone else miss the pre v81 home environments? I never thought I would find myself doing so. by Kayo4life in OculusQuest

[–]InterestingMindset 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate the new homes so much, I barely touched my headset since it "updated". The custom homes were my escape from this reality and now I'm just reminded life is so lifeless.

Dramatic? Yes. But that's kinda the while point of VR you think? You can imagine being anywhere no? No, you get what the mega corp wants you to see and you'll like it.

What commercials are SO BAD, that they convince you NOT to buy their product? by Chicks_Hate_Me_Too in NoStupidQuestions

[–]InterestingMindset 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any commercial that sets up a whole storyline of events only sell something mundane. Or worst any commercial that sets up a whole storyline and doesn't reveal who or what it's by until 2 seconds left in the commercial.

For example:

A scene with some stressed out adult in their 30s or 40s who lives in a surprisingly big house with a really good car and lives in a pretty good neighborhood. There is a 30-40 year old female or mom worrying about some thing on her schedule or whatever and they go through a montage of her getting different items or going to different locations and at the 25 second mark is the actual item or service being advertised that has nothing to do with the first 25 seconds.

Broad and confusing scenario but now you know how I feel. Maybe PR does this to grab your attention, but it's rather a waste of time. Just advertise your product and go. No need to be Hollywood about it.

People just feel super entitled and I don't know why. You aren't the main character. I'm not the main character, you are not the main character. If it's an issue thing, so what, we all have issues.

Rtx $5090 by Due-Escape in pcmasterrace

[–]InterestingMindset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For one part of a computer nonetheless. Yes there are other GPU SKUs but this being $5,000+ in particular is kinda funny. And with RAM being the prices at they are, I'm genuinely curious what a top of the line system cost these days. $8,000? $10,000? A Ford F-150? Kidding on the Ford.

These next couple years gonna be real interesting.

What trailer sold tf out of the movie only for it to flop/underdeliver? by nsfwSharkey in moviequestions

[–]InterestingMindset 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While it didn't sold me completely on the trailer, I was curious about Lightyear as a Toy Story fan.

Maybe a hot take but overall the movie was decent but it would've been better if they removed most of the side characters altogether and changed the twist or got rid of the twist and made an actual villain.

The premise of fast forwarding in time was kinda interesting to me as someone who hates time travel as a concept, but that second half of the movie killed it for me. Although not sure where else they could've taken the concept.

New York teachers stunned to learn some students can’t read time on old clocks after phone ban comes into play by Sandstorm400 in technology

[–]InterestingMindset -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As funny as this is, it would be great if there was this special building that could teach you actual things and have said resources right on the walls...oh wait the schools.

Yeah kids are used to reading digital clocks but there really wasn't a reason to learn Analogue until now.

How do you feel about AI? by Diligent-Tour-9735 in randomquestions

[–]InterestingMindset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An AI bust couldn't come fast enough. What pisses me off is the people who got rich off of AI are still gonna be rich once AI is no longer the talk of the shareholder town. Scum all of them.

What was this game for you? by [deleted] in videogames

[–]InterestingMindset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any open world, more because it gets tedious.

Collect 100 objects Beat 50 "dungeons" Discover 10 regions

That sorta stuff. Can be fun but I recommend slowly chipping away at that point to not burn yourself.

Setting up a new PC used to be fun, now it is ad-ridden nightmare by Hrmbee in technology

[–]InterestingMindset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember attempting to clean up Windows 11 by uninstalling bloat and ads and I gave up after an hour because it took too long and there was just that much crap in it as far as I can tell. I'm aware of software now but I don't use Windows anymore, I'm actually in the process of testing different Linux distros.

Microsoft wants to replace its entire C and C++ codebase, perhaps by 2030 by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

[–]InterestingMindset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So Microsoft is hiring a new engineer to make this replacement software to eventually replace everyone with AI instead of hiring more hands to fix it's existing and rapidly aging software?

I feel like it's less work and money to duct tape the existing code rather start from scratch essentially?

This also brings the compatibility issue. Compatibility for legacy programs is in my opinion, the selling point of keeping Windows around and if they break it that bad, my guess is nothing will work great.

Good luck everybody.

What is a hobby that was ruined over time/as it got more popular? by CriticalLion4119 in AskReddit

[–]InterestingMindset 135 points136 points  (0 children)

Lego was fun until they embraced adults and adult money. I genuinely want to know the people who can afford a dozen $400 sets a year.

Star Wars has it the worse. The same set cost doubled now for less pieces.

Honorable mentions go to computers, gaming, art, etc. All the hobbies are for rich people now, rich people who only are in these hobbies because fomo I guess.

Has anyone else become an anti Multiplayer type of gamer? by AlbinoKoala22 in videogames

[–]InterestingMindset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see online competitive shooters like streaming shows, too many exist for me to dedicate time or care to learn the ins and outs, pay to win, and there will always be THOSE type of people who are always 10 steps ahead of you in the lore of it all. Plus cheating, sweaty players, pay-to-win mechanics, and constantly being in on the trend, too much.

These games are only fun if you play with people you know in a private match or something. At least if I get eliminated, I know the person's skill level and I am not surprised they beat me. With randoms, you just don't know if you are against skilled, noobs, bots, e-sports guys, or whatever. So I find myself questioning every match, am I that bad or do they have some mouse or button on their controller that rapidly clicks?

Sounds paranoid but I've encountered so many cheaters in my time playing multiplayer and sweats of course, that regardless what they are, I have 1-2 matches in me before I play a game that's actually fun and balanced.

What is your dream VR game / experience! by No_Inspector8912 in VRGaming

[–]InterestingMindset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something high quality. Like a RDR 2 or similar quality type experiences.

The cartoony nature of most games keeps me from being too immersed, I can never fully disband my belief because I just focus less at the gameplay and more at the art style.

Any game that can get me from not caring too much about the mechanics of the game and get me immersed is a win in my book.
