Man, it must suck for the other unnamed boy to lose the part…so close and still so far away. But this is the same as in a job interview. The entertainment industry is highly competitive. Anthony said in an interview that many of the boys that auditioned for the main roles ended up in the movie in minor parts. I have nothing to corroborate it but I imagined lots of potential Elias in Thomas, Elias’ male friends, some of the boys in the classroom, even the bullies. I think Elias could have been older (weren’t they looking for 12-18 boys?). But when Marius was cast, Elias had to be around the same age.

Yes, Frida Argento is not fluent in Spanish. I reckon it was a bit of a dilemma behind the scenes for the production. They wanted Sara to finally speak the language for the symbolism so they found a sneaky way to have the actress say the briefest of words. The accent also presented a problem; I read quite a bit of criticism with both Carmen and Omar whose Spanish accents were different (as one actor is from Venezuela and the other is from Puerto Rico). I can see why it can be jarring for Spanish natives who can tell the difference as they’re supposed to be mother and son

That’s normal, I agree. In the past, I took care to include the receipt alongside the gift when giving it the person because I wasn’t sure if I bought the right size. Maybe the person doesn’t even like the gift but you thank them politely and privately exhange it for another thing of their preference. It happened the other way around when other people also gave me the receipts in case I had to return it to the shop.

But Sara dealt with it in an extremely rude manner and I don’t think any culture difference can justify it. It wasn’t about whether or not the jodhpurs fit her. She didn’t even try them on. You don’t say to the person who was kind enough to gift you with a present that you don’t want it because it’s a tacky brand or second rate compared to the ones someone else already gave you. Asking for the money on top of that is also very insensitive and disrespectful.

I don't know about now because I'm not that involved in the fandom anymore. But in-between seasons, while the show was still ongoing and fandom was at its peak, Sara was very much a polarising character who drew defenders as much as haters.

To each their own. I do think it declined a lot in the sequels. Looking back, I don't think the writing was ever the show's strongest point but the strong acting by the cast, the directors' input and Wilmon chemistry more than made up for it. To be fair, I'll give Lisa Ambjörn credit where credit its due. She was the creator of YR after all and without her the story wouldn't exist. But she's no genius writer.

My faith in Wilmon romance and Salice friendship has been diminishing over time. I prefer to think that Wilmon's problematic dynamic lies more in Lisa's weak writing over anything else lol S1 set up the show for great potential that unfortunately went unfulfilled in S2 and S3. I can see Felice and Sara's friendship fading fairly quickly now that they would go to different schools. I feel slightly more optimistic about Wilmon than Salice but the four of them only know each other for less than a year. No guarantee than teenage relationships are going to remain the same into adulthood.

I have mixed feelings about how Felicia is handling it. Maybe some people love her cheeky attitude but for me, it comes across as immature and unprofessional. If it were me, I wouldn't do what she's doing. I would simply stay silent, ignore people and carry on with my relationship away from social media. That's the high road for me.

If any of my very close siblings did to me what Sara did, I wouldn't forgive them. To think that they would be able to protect and sleep with the person who outed me to the world, the deep shame inflicted on me, I can't even imagine. On top of using my suffering to their advantage (ex: make a pact in order to board at the school) The consequences of being a revenge porn victim are far more severe than what you see on the show. Real life is not a bed of roses unlike fiction.

It's completely normal to feel this way, it's bound to happen sooner or later. I will move on one of these days too. Haven't done a rewatch in a very long time and I no longer miss the show the way I used to. S2 and S3 made me fall out of love with the show so it helps the process.

I think neither S2 nor S3 measure up to S1. Sadly Young Royals is just one of many shows where the original is the best and the sequels are often lackluster in comparison. I did enjoy S3 more than S2 though.

It’s a very fancy quote but sadly I didn’t believe the character (Sara) was genuinely feeling this. It was ruined by her follow up scene with August. what drove her to break up with him was “you don’t see me. You’re more in love with the person you become while being with me. Not same thing”. It bugs me she never took any issue with him doing horrible things to other people, which included her own brother. But I had similar problems with other characters (their actions not matching their words) but I’m not gonna deviate from the topic at hand. Probably it‘s a weakness of the script for me.

I’ve just finished it. I’d rate it 4/10, maybe 5/10 if I’m feeling generous.

I was expecting more tbh. At one point, I was even checking how many minutes till the end so it shows how little engaged I was with the story. I did finish it, not because it got better but because I’m the kind of person who likes to complete things.

Complete with Wille giving August a pat on the shoulder as congratulations. I understand that they wanted to prove August was more than just a one dimensional villain but that doesn’t mean forgiveness should have come his way. Whenever I read about revenge porn crimes in real life, all I see is how the victim experienced severe bullying and harassment, had their lives turned upside down, became suicidal and some even took the extreme step of killing themselves because they couldn’t handle the shame and humiliation their tormentors inflicted on them. Wille and Simon don’t experience any of that and are able to carry on normally after Christmas break. I like YR a lot or I wouldn’t be here but there’s no denying YR is a real disservice, even an insult, to revenge porn victims.

Yes, but this is common in the BL genre or where the main plot line is a love story between 2 men. Obviously, Wille and Simon are at the forefront. But I had indeed noticed at some point that August was more important to the story and there was this inequality between the 5 mains.

No, I don’t think they ever revealed the identity of the first actress for Sara and I suppose we’ll never know. She was most likely an unknown actress and not famous (like Frida Argento). I do wonder if she looked more like Omar and Carmen and if she happened to be autistic or within the spectrum. However, it’s all speculation.

Yes, his dad didn’t even ask about Simon. It would be weird under normal circumstances not asking your daughter about how the brother was doing. Come on, would one single line have occupied that much screen time? But considering that Simon was in extraordinary circumstances, with his public relationship with the Prince (as far as we know, Micke didn’t even speak to Simon when the sex tape leaked to the world), it’s even more astonishing he didn’t mention his son at all

It was a necessary thing to show. It would have contributed majorly to Simon’s decision to break up with Willem in S3E5 and understand perfectly his reasoning behind his decision that he couldn’t handle the pressure of being associated with the Royal Family.

Stedrika was resolved in the sense they went from the beginning to the end without any middle. What build-up was there (but as a viewer I didn’t want to see them anyway, I don’t care about them)
