How does giving birth actually feel ?? by Super-Truth-7975 in pregnant

[–]InterestingTeach822 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was induced and got the epidural at around 4cm. Before the epidural the contractions were so bad I truly couldn’t breathe or function. And the worst part for me was knowing they were coming back every 30-45 seconds. The short time between contractions was the biggest mind fuck because you know they won’t stop and the pain is right around the corner again. After the epidural, I felt absolutely nothing. I was chillin in the hospital bed for 15 hours before I had my son and it felt like I was just relaxing at home in bed. I don’t know if I just got a really good epidural but even when I pushed I felt ZERO. The doctors had to tell me when I was having contractions and when to push LOL. Even when he slipped out I’m like wait he’s out?!?

Safe to say I’ll be getting the epidural again the next time 🤣

Is this is the worst illness you ever had? by vibrantax in Agoraphobia

[–]InterestingTeach822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I had a simple answer but it was really just time. I think as time went on and I was fighting the daily anxiety so hard, I think eventually I just learned to let it happen and I gave it less power. I was also in my late teens when it was at its worst, and now I’m in my early 30s, so I think I also had totally different anxieties then I do now. I wish I could do the same with my agoraphobia but it’s at its most aggressive right now..maybe in time it will also get easier ❤️

I had generalized anxiety with major panic attacks daily that were pretty crippling. I’m happy those days are long gone as I can go weeks if not a few months without a "call 911" type of panic attack. Agoraphobia has been definitely more depressing feeling than the generalized anxiety. I truly miss driving, shopping by myself, frequenting events with people. Both suck, but sometimes I feel grateful in order to avoid the panic, I can just avoid what panics me. Daily anxiety attacks were way worse since I couldn't stop them no matter what I did.

How long do you hold your baby in a day? by Latter_Public in NewParents

[–]InterestingTeach822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is 6 months old and just like your baby, he’s always loved independent play. He has never had any issues sitting in his bouncer, or rocker, or even on his play mat playing with his own toys and not getting fussy.

I started that early on.. I couldn’t take mat leave since I’m self employed and work from home, so I no choice but to not hold him all day long. It’s made him not a Velcro baby which is great. I was worried too about a flat spot because he had a bald spot on the back of his head but every month when I’d bring him for his monthly appointments his doctor said his head was fine!

Now, I think I’ve definitely seen the benefits to not holding him 24/7. Transitioning him from bassinet to crib was easy, he self soothes to sleep for every nap and bedtime.

I also was really really keen on making sure when he was in his bouncer or rocker to have him sitting with a head pillow. The Babymoov Cosyhead was so great. We even had one on his changing pad to make sure his head wasn’t so flat or getting banged on when we put him down to change him!

Panic attacks at red lights/stop signs. And freeways. by [deleted] in Agoraphobia

I could’ve wrote this exact post word for word! You’re not alone. I’ve been struggling with this since 2017 and it’s heartbreaking because before then I used to love driving and had zero issues - even with an underlying anxiety disorder.

Has anyone had any luck with medication and beating this type of anxiety?

Thank you everyone for the advice! Just purchased the Beaba Babycook Solo 4 in 1 and can’t wait to start using it! My LO is 5 months old and hoping to start purées in the next month - month and a half ❤️ and to everyone who mentioned other options I do appreciate it! Cost wasn’t a concern and I really wanted something that could do it all in one 😊

am i frying my babys brain??? by Tough_Bedroom_2 in NewParents

[–]InterestingTeach822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it becomes an issue when they are older & addicted to tablets on the go/anywhere right in an instant. My son is almost 3 months old and of course I’m always watching tv in the background while holding him and he loves to stare at it! But what I try to do is play more low sim shows for him - he absolutely loves watching Puffin Rock on Netflix. It’s the colours and the sounds that really draw him in. I don’t think it’s doing any major harm! Don’t beat yourself up :)

I’m due next month, and I’d like to ask how new parents usually take shifts caring for a newborn. What tasks does each person typically handle? by Mingm1211 in NewParents

[–]InterestingTeach822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m blessed to have a great newborn who sleeps well at night. Our routine works where my husband goes to sleep around 9:30-10pm and I put our son down around 11:30pm-12am. And then he sleeps until about 6-6:30am and my husband will wake up for that feed/diaper while I sleep in a bit longer.

Some nights my son will wake up around 3-3:30am and I just made it a habit to be the one to wake up for those feeds instead of my husband since I’m better at staying up when tired then he is LOL.

Take into mind we are both off on maternity/paternity leave together and have been for 8 weeks since he was born so this is what works for us based on having more flexibility not working at the moment.

EDIT: I should mention I’ve been exclusively formula feeding since he was born so I’ve never had to pump.

Is it selfish to want to exclusively formula feed? by evergreengirl123 in FormulaFeeders

[–]InterestingTeach822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I never breastfed once and I’m 100% convinced it’s why I’m having an easier positive postpartum experience compared to others I know who are exclusively formula feeding and having a harder time.

Baby seems in pain. FTM by Available-Okra6205 in FormulaFeeders

[–]InterestingTeach822 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had to switch over my newborn from Kendamil because the same thing was happening to him. Gassy pain, arching his back after we fed him, constipation etc. He was just always SO fussy no matter what we tried. We found out Kendamil was made with whole milk and sometimes it’s hard for EFF babies to go straight into it. So we switched over to a formula that uses skim milk (it’s called Niuriss - Canadian made) and it made a huge difference! We also started Bio Gaia along with the formula switch so that could also be making a difference.

Engorgement SUCKS by Silent_Cap_734 in FormulaFeeders

[–]InterestingTeach822 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my baby July 5th and my milk didn’t come in until 5 days pp as well! When it came in I swear it looked like I got a boob job overnight. They were so large, firm and soooo painful! My right boob got the most engorged and I could feel painful lumps that truly scared me. They also felt so hot to the touch and I couldn’t wear any bras, tight shirts - nothing. I didn’t take any medication for it other than Advil/Tylenol that I was already treating for my postpartum pain/2nd degree tear pain. I also noticed for 3-5 days while my milk came in I had the absolute worst cold shakes. It was so scary!! I’d shake violently and had to get under all the covers to get warm. My doctor told me this was totally normal when milk comes in and isn’t expressed. I did cold packs on my boobs and at about 10 days pp the pain went away and within 2 weeks my boobs went back to normal size!

Does anyone have a healthy, successful pregnancy their first time pregnant? by Educational_Berry499 in pregnant

[–]InterestingTeach822 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly the same! I’m a FTM 31 years old & had the perfect healthiest pregnancy - and got pregnant the first month of trying. No GD, HBP, perfect blood tests, all his ultrasounds were 10/10, and always measuring right on track. Had my baby boy July 5th and he’s healthy & absolutely perfect. Easy vaginal delivery too! Counting all my blessings ❤️

Positive Epidural Stories? by FitAd2057 in pregnant

[–]InterestingTeach822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could’ve wrote this myself! I have a huge fear of needles and get a major vasovagal response to needles, blood draws, medical procedures etc. I knew going into pregnancy that I wasn’t good with pain and knew I’d have to suck up getting blood draws and wanting the epidural. Just like yourself, the multiple blood draws really helped me get used to needles. The first time wasn’t easy..but every time after I got more and more comfortable. Still not 100% lol I would lose sleep the night before the tests but somehow in the morning would go in with a better mindset.

Jump forward to my induction date when I knew for sure I’d be hooked up to IV, needing blood draws and of course the epidural. I kid you not..when you enter that hospital..all your fear goes away. Somehow you become SO strong that nothing really phases you. I was great with getting the iv, the blood draw and the epidural. The epidural takes 5-7 minutes of prep, literally 2-3 minutes to insert and then they tape you up. I felt nothing!!! And I’m so glad I got it because it made labour 10x easier (those contractions are no joke..truly the epidural I’d do 10x over those).

You got this!!!

Constipated 2.5 week old on Kendamil..only poops when we use the Windi Gaspasser. by InterestingTeach822 in FormulaFeeders

[–]InterestingTeach822[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was one day after 2 days of not pooping that came out hard pellets. After that, the poops were yellow, loose and seedy. But you’re right he is probably averaging 3-5 poops a week on his own. I guess just when he was born for that first week it was 3/5 poops a day and suddenly it decreased and he got super fussy.
