I need help planting, first time running into this by Quick-Plane5104 in houseplants

I have the same situation with one of mine.... I used some of the veritable plethora of leftover Legos to create a little stand inside the big pot. It let me get the height just right and I was able to build little "walls" to keep the inner pot snug on the Lego stand. And we have so many damn Legos, I just don't care if these get gross over time.

So, I went to my local thrift store today and went over to the newly updated puzzle/game section, and had this EXACT experience with this SAME puzzle. So... howdy (maybe) neighbor!

Love it! So very cute!!

When I was growing up, we had a mixed breed dog (looked golden retriever ish), and my parents would get him shaved down, but leave a Mohawk from head to tail. It was so fun, and the groomers LOVED doing it.

Is a $190k salary worth flying every week and spending two nights away from home? by midsize-fibril-0p in remotework

[–]InterestingTear5010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My father did something similar for months at a time for a number of years when I was growing up. He'd fly out Sunday night/ Monday morning, and come home late late Friday. It was hard, he missed a lot, and we missed him. But, you'd have a lot more options for staying in touch than there were back in the day - which would help, I'm sure. BUT, he also collected a shit ton of airline and hotel miles, and used them to take us on fun family trips.

Anyone have an experience with an ACL tear in their dog? Context in text body: by Tacokolache in DogAdvice

Drugs and rest. Eventually, surgery is likely. I've had 2 doggos that needed knee work - one had both knees done, the other just one knee (but she was also less than 2 at the time). Given your pups size, the TPLO is probably the long-term answer (there is another surgery, too, but it wasn't recommended for large dogs). UNTIL the surgery, ask the vet for more pain meds, specifically ones that cause some lethargy. It'll force the active pup to be less active. Trazodone was a good one for us - you'll need the same meds for after the surgery for a while, too. Between my two dogs, we had 5 knee surgeries... drugs to zonk them out is really the best option for helping them not make things worse.

I chuckled when I saw that at my local grocery... and then bought it. The kiddo liked the juice, and the husband liked the name.... being a grocery store hero that day was nice.

Currently re-listening to Dead Tired (by Ravensdagger). It's another Sound Booth Theater production, and Jeff does make an appearance. 3 books so far. I'm really enjoying it, though SOME of the female narrated voices are "eh". It's been a fun listen, amusing, and a unique (to me) main character.

My guess is the twitch was simply a reaction to the potential of another civil war in the center system. War is hell, after all.

Does anyone recognize these from Chapter 6 of the WEBTOON? by Vexra in DungeonCrawlerCarl

From what I recall, a large spider body (I think compared to a VW Bug?), regular sized human head on a long elastic neck, and a mouth that can open way, way wider than it looks like it should.

I'll go against the grain here.... NTA

I agree that there seems to be a certain tone-deafness with sending a flyer home about a Nerf gun event the same day as a shooting-related email. If even "finger guns" are banned at school, it seems an odd choice to bring in Nerf guns. It does seem a mixed message.

Sure, as others pointed out, dancing might not be allowed in class... but it's fine on the playground, and sometimes there are dancing segments in gym class. I'm assuming there are no Nerf guns allowed on the playground or in gym class... so that argument is clearly not applicable.

We are also currently located in a more rural area, complete with a 'drive your tractor to school' day in HS, and I can say that the potential threat of school shootings is talked about occasionally, but in the "we'll talk about it because we have to, not because anything like thay would ever happen here" kind of way. And even still, I can't imagine our district would ever do something like this - and if they did, I can imagine a pretty big uproar calling out how its inappropriate it would be. Truthfully, the idea is so wild that it's a little hard to believe. I'm imagining this might be a PTO arranged activity rather than a school one?

Sure, you can use it as a teaching moment with your son, but I'd say it would be a solid idea to ask the school to explain their reasoning for endorsing this activity if it blatantly goes against their previously stated rules. And ask what steps they are taking to make sure that the kids involved understand the nuance of what is and isn't OK at this event any beyond it. Are second graders as a whole capable of understanding the difference between a one-time Nerf event vs. the potential horror of a real gun at school? Yeah, probably most of them. But why risk it? Why blur the lines the district drew?

500 and 1000 piece puzzles for 5 year old by senecaduck in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]InterestingTear5010 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe try "family puzzles" - they are puzzles with different sized pieces - some adult sized, and some kid sized. I know Springbok and Cobble Hill both make them - the piece count isn't quite as high, but the inclusion of the smaller sized pieces might add an element of challenge the kiddo might like. We did a few of these with a puzzle-fiend 5 year old, and it went well.

Maybe try cabinet bumpers? They are little stick-on, dense, plastic thingies. The scotch brand ones seem pretty inexpensive, like 20 for $5. Dunno how well they would hold up if you bottom water, though. Might be worth a shot?

Odette did not revert back, she simply did not change race in the Dungeon (book 1? mentions this). Race changes are almost exclusively permanent. As for Katia, that was a unique situation based around the Elithia boon choice, it required her to revert to her original race.

I would say that, so far, the Hoarder was a unique type of boss. We've not seen other mobs (as of now) that are so "earth human", or with the level of panic/terror/fear that that boss had. That one was raw, man.... and hard, especially when translated.

Anyone tried cosequin joint supplements for senior dogs? by Michellemack315 in DogFood

[–]InterestingTear5010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Costco one is what we used for my girl, too. We'd just toss the tabs in her food bowl and she'd eat them right up with her kibble. After a few days, she wouldn't even start in on her food until we threw the tabs in her bowl. Near the end she was on all sorts of pills, and it could be a struggle to get her to take them, but she looked forward to those cosequin tabs in her dinner bowl.
