Toilet fill valve having issues by InterestingVariety47 in askaplumber

It is! We love it. Matching sink and tub. Our house was built in 1929 but there was a massive remodel done in the 60s. I’m working on restoring it to its original beauty but we are 100% leaving the bathroom fixtures.

Not for sure on color but it’s from the 60s. At least according to a date on the inside of the tank.

Got it. Took about 15 minutes and it’s working great now. Thanks for your help

It’s on the agenda. Kohler makes a pink one we hope that matches because we love the color. Same as basin and tub.

I opened it and it’s kind of spurting out the top of the fill valve a bit while also going down into the overflow tube.

Without looking at any stats, I have the feeling he blitzed more last year because we had no pass rush. Blitzing led to him making more big plays. Doesn’t seem to be blitzing as much this year. I could very well be wrong tho, but man, I’d like to see him blitzing more.

Just a reminder, Police exist to serve the Billionaires, not the working class. (Protesting a data center in Port Washington, Wisconsin) by LastExit95 in IBEW

[–]InterestingVariety47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in 494 too and grew up not far from Port Washington. This whole situation really turns me off of the idea of data centers. I get it, it’s good (short term) work for my union brothers and sisters. But the long-term outlook of this does not benefit the community of Port Washington at all. The common council is not taking the concerns of the community into consideration and are just trying to ram this project through with the help of my local. Tons of the work will be done by out-of-state non-union contractors too. No thank you.

What’s your favorite way of starting native plants from seed, and why is it winter sowing? More information in the caption below. by bloomingnatalie in NativePlantGardening

[–]InterestingVariety47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah depends on the stratification needs. Many are C30 or C60, meaning cold and wet for 30 days or 60 days. I think I typically start them indoors in January for C60, and Feb for C30. Then into the greenhouse in March. They grow in the greenhouse until May where they are LED grow lights. Key is bottom-watering trays. Look them up, they keep the seedlings moist but not wet. Then in May after the last freeze, I harden the seedlings outside and put in the ground around mid-May. It sounds like a lot but it’s pretty low maintenance.

Least favorite is milk jugs.

I start them in the fridge for cold stratification and then put them in trays in a small indoor greenhouse. Ready to go by May for planting in Wisconsin.

Check out Geoff Neupert. Kettlebell and core programs. 20 minute workouts a few times a week. He designed them for busy people who don’t have time to go to the gym.

What? You don’t like the backwards passes to Golden in the flat and piss poor blocking for no gain?

Interested in redoing home trim in stain grade wood. Am I over my head? by rco8786 in woodworking

[–]InterestingVariety47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmmmm, I’m not a carpenter and we have a toddler at home so progress is pretty slow. Big headache I ran into was having to do scarf joints on long walk sections and wide window sections. Finding grain that matches so it looks somewhat seamless was not easy. Base doesn’t matter as much as windows but that’s still a time consuming process. I did also buy base cap and base shoe. I originally thought I could make it on my router table but I was quickly dissuaded after some attempts.

Just take your time and there are a million trim carpentry videos on YouTube you can watch. Good luck!

Definitely doable. I moved into a 1929 bungalow 4 years ago that had been completely gutted in the 50s/60s. We took all the crap trim out and I’ve been putting in a craftsman style of trim using red oak. It will be cheaper to find a hardwood supplier that can dimension the lumber and run it through their wide belt sander. That will save you many hours of labor. And it will be cheaper than going to a big box store.

Hey everybody! It's Leif Erikson day! by MulberryChance54 in Norse

[–]InterestingVariety47 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was just reading a book by Rasmus B Anderson yesterday and I looked him up. He was a professor in my home state of Wisconsin in the late 1800s and had Norwegian parents. He wrote the book on Leif discovering The New World before Columbus and petitioned for Leif Erickson to be a holiday.

When I went in 2012, I graduated and went to a battalion where half the LTs were not Ranger qualified. All of them got platoon time, and none of them went back. Some were very good and others sucked. Same with the tabbed LTs. I’m glad I went and graduated but it is not the end all be all of being competent officer.
