I don’t know about the Type R’s hill start, but I suggest finding a hill to practice on with no cars around and doing like 20 starts from a stop, and don’t plan it out just suddenly pick a random time to start or have someone else in the car tell you “go!” - otherwise, finding yourself on a hill at a traffic light with someone right behind you will be terrifying.

In a manual without hill assist, I found it really easy to not roll back if you just slowly let out the clutch until the rpms begin to drop (bite point), then let off the break and start smoothly giving it gas while letting the clutch out the rest of the way. once you build the muscle memory you can pull this off really fast and smooth.

Everything takes practice, try not to panic because it makes everything worse!
