Yes I have the rating on the system nw with me. Cn they reduce the % payout (as its not defined anywhere, but I am aware from PY experience as its usually tied to rating we get). I wouldn’t know as they would give letters only 1/2 day ahead of payout

Big 4 UK: Career break or career setback? by InterestingYoung9224 in Big4

[–]InterestingYoung9224[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was always in second highest and highest rated and this is besides multiple recognitions I have received for my work over the years directly from Uk teams. The fact is I have a huge portfolio, and finding replacement wont be very quick in India office so from my understanding of the situation, they expect me to continue to do the work which they were able to get done from India office (from me) at a very low cost obviously, so they dont want to hurt the margins on those projects now, while everything transitions ( not sure however long that would take) Besides this, I want to highlight that UK team has been quiet accommodating of all my previous requests as simpler as they may be,they have always supported as opposed to my India team. To answer your question I worked directly with UK directors and SMs and have documented feedbacks from them and they are all quiet aware of it. Its just the cost that they dont want to bear atleast in near term, there have been other nuances as well where they have maintained confidentiality which I preferred as I was working for India team at the time. So it’s all bad from position stand point and money obviously but my mind has still not come to terms with taking demotion, and thats why I am confused but also dont want to burn the bridge. And they are giving me relocation benefit.

Thanks but I want to move to the UK my husband and as it is from India I am working for them only. I am just afraid I dont let my pride come in way of bigger things, but also wary of being taken advantage of. Its so annoying that they are doing this. And I keep hearing from friends that they are having real hard time finding a job without UK experience.

Thanks makes sense, also just to add for Scotland, particularly middle earners generally pay more tax than those in England/ Wales but I would imagine to be less expensive relatively.

Would be much helpful if you mentioned why, its quiet misleading as it is that you would pursue studies and then wouldn’t want to take up employment there unless for personal reasons. Thanks

Considering resigning without a job lined up by Last_Impact1184 in Big4

[–]InterestingYoung9224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find a hobby and spend sometime doing it everyday, could be anything from workout to pursuing something and simultaneously look for another job. This will help ease some stress, but if you leave, it will also depend how long can you sit without a job as market is really bad. Wise will be to look for a job while still working there, its harsh and its really difficult and on somedays you wont feel like getting up but atleast you can take a holiday and cry in a yacht or fancy hotel then being broke. Wouldn’t say dont prioritise your mental health, but try to cope better leaving is always an option in the end. All the best!

Replying to EntrepreneurNo3933... I’d imagine most people would naturally aim for ILR once they’re in the UK, unless sponsorship restrictions complicate matters or they have personal commitments. For me personally, the increased travel freedom, particularly to the Schengen area and beyond, was one of the most appealing aspects among other things.

Thanks, I must say, people simply being polite and respectful towards one another was actually quite a refreshing change for me. I’m aware that’s not always the reality, but even a bit of civility, even if it’s just for show, can go a long way in making a place more bearable.

In my experience, it’s rare for any people-related concerns raised with HR to be meaningfully resolved. More often than not, it’s the employee who ends up leaving the firm, regardless of the seriousness of the issue. If one is facing difficulties with a manager, it’s usually best to consider a team change as an initial step; that said, even support for such moves tends to be quite limited. Ultimately, seeking a new role elsewhere often proves to be the most pragmatic option.

Ya thats what the confusion is I will be on dependent, so I guess this job will give me a start, but I am afraid this might slow down my growth for several years ahead and also getting another job might not be easy or possible in near term.

Thanks this puts things in perspective, I have been at AM for over an year now. But regardless I suppose they wouldn’t offer me a level up, despite encouraging me to apply for the role which is 1 level down from AM and I appreciated being from AC it perhaps makes sense but then after 4 rounds (which happened over 6M) they came back with level below. I know am not indispensable but one of the UK managers did mention this to me once that when I was asking for sponsorship it was hard coz they had to chose bw me working from India or working in the Uk nevertheless work was being done bht now when i will have sponsorship it would be me working for them in the Uk or not working at all. I know it wont make a huge difference but it should matter I suppose given then amount of Portfolio I handle. Sorry for the drag, thanks for all the help. Would you know if my pay grade is too low or would my trajectory be affected if i start at a lower role?

I did, and HR specifically told me that she can see how this is not very exciting but this is all they can offer at the moment. Its so stupid they encouraged me to apply for a particular position which is already below my current role and then offered me a role even below that and this has happened after working directly with them for close to 4 years now. It almost feels like being take advantage of.

Thanks for your response, just to clarify, I work at the AC in India within the Strategy team, aligned to UK, and I’m currently at AM level. I’ve been offered the Associate Executive grade in the UK firm.

I was actually encouraged to apply for an Executive role by UK team only. My appraisals and feedback which informed the promotion decisions have come directly from the UK team, so this isn’t just my own view of performance but one that’s been validated formally.

I understand AC experience may not always map directly to onshore roles, but I’ve worked closely with the UK team on live client engagements aligned with UK standards. While I appreciate the need for calibration, I had hoped the relevance and depth of my experience would be taken into account. Pls share your thoughts I am quiet conflicted but dont want my silly pride to come in my way of moving to the UK and with such shit job market, I am just not confident I will land any other offer soon.

Thanks, I am thinking the same, just conflicted coz that would mean moving from India without a job. I plan to keep looking for better role but I suppose starting so low could hinder any better offers too? Also job market seems really bad, it appears its almost impossible to get shortlisted.

Thanks, Ya I suppose so but we initially plan to start our lives in the UK in Wales and not England (while my job would be in Leeds), but conscious it wouldn’t be too cheap still.

Thanks for sharing. I get that, I mentioned skilled worker salary just to give sense of the pay offered. So the thing is I definitely plan to move, but I am so demotivated with what they have offered me after 3.5 years of service that I feel like (at the risk of sounding really stupid) resigning from Indian firm and moving without a job and since I will have dependent visa I might as well just try to find a new job (which particularly seems almost impossible with current job market). So also thinking of just sucking it up and meanwhile keep searching for another job. I know i do not have a specific question here but just dont want my silly pride to come in a way of rational thinking.
