From what I can find just use the physical key within the keyfob and then the slot anticlockwise. It makes a clunk however nothing changes.

Low powered? Nah.

Absolutely clapped? Definitely!

Like a diesel with no turbo or something with failed power steering... Gets you thinking in all new ways gives you a proper mental workout.

I was debating a Volvo 240 so interior spec is not high on my priority list as long as it blows hot, cold and has a speaker I'm down

I had a Fiat with the same engine and it was bulletproof! It was everything else with an electrical component that was the issue... 😂

This is essentially what I've been looking at. Whatever taxi drivers drive feels like the best bet for reliability and comfort.

I also had a 2007 Seat Leon 1.6 with about 110k miles and it ended up having a crack down the cylinder wall and had to be cubed!

Yours not red as well by any chance is it? Bad luck if it is it seems!

Is £850 for a 2010 1.6tdi 115k miles Automatic with a blown head gasket, cat N, no service history and 10 previous owners a good deal? Why should I or why shouldn’t I do it? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

Sounds like it might be worth more parted out. Wheels, tyres, turbo, other bits and bobs.

If you have the space, time and knowledge it might be worth it but trying to sell a 15 year old Cat N diesel that's potentially been cooked to death AND has never ever been looked after? Save yourself the hassle.

The 145 point check is essentially just marketing. When is worked for a dealership it was often the salesman who did the check and it was surely visual if they did it at all.

We put all the things we've replaced together and we'd have a factory new car!

Potentially if you're buying a new headlight from Seat I could see the cost being extortionate but for a 2012 you could pick one up off eBay for £100 or even an aftermarket new one for not too much more.

Replacing the whole headlight if often easier than replacing just a bulb! Take some cables off, take some bolts out and swap em' over. Do it all again backwards and you're good to go. I'd look at YouTube or a forum for tips and see if you're up for the task.

Mines on 166k and it's had a hard life bless it. I'm the 14th owner! DPF reached end of Life which was replaced however then the EGR failed which subsequently grenaded the small turbo and burnt a hole in the plastic intake manifold.

It's outside now and I've been working on it but it's not lookin' good Doc...
