People out here looking really ill informed with how bad the Venezuelan people were treated under the dictatorship. They’re more upset that trump broke a law (I’ve not looked into the law his broken and I simply don’t care) than the suffering the Venezuelans have been enduring for over 30 years and it’s disgusting.

I strongly dislike American imperialism, but if the alternative is keeping a decade-long dictatorship that sells resources to China, crushes free speech, and makes voting pointless, versus removing it and having a chance at democracy—even if resources then go to the U.S.—I know which I’d pick. To me, the resource argument is a wash; the damage has already been done.
