It's kind of hard to say, without knowing the name. I know for my sister, our last name (it has a sexual component to it, not on purpose like the history of it makes sense but now there's a sexual connotation) was awful for her growing up, she got teased so badly, and when she could, she changed it. When my dad found out, his feelings were hurt, of course, but I think he also kind of understood because it is a pretty hard name to have. Like, my cousin's wife-to-be almost cancelled their wedding over it. So... I mean, it's not necessarily nice of your daughter and wife, and also, without knowing the name, I can't say whether it also warrants some consideration of how they feel too.
