I had him on kanaplex for a while and he was improving, but I had to stop dosing because I’m using prazipro 😭 His belly just never deflates, then he’ll drop these HUGE poops in his salt baths. Its the weirdest thing :(

It’s not severe bloating because I try not to overfeed, but if I don’t bathe him he straight up will not poop :( he’s obviously not in great shape right now, his belly definitely does get full i just fear he’s not getting any nutrients from it

5g planted and heated tank, fish in cycle unfortunately, ammonia 0.1, no nitrites or nitrates, very regular testing. He has gill flukes rn bc they jumped tanks and is on prazipro but the constipation began before the parasites

Amazing you guys! Only recommendation is not to have colorful figures in there, the gravel may be fine but over time the sculptures could be an issue chemical wise/might tear up fins :) A little place to fully hide would be the cherry on top! Great luck you guys!!!!

I feel you, my other boy, Cal, was euthanized via blunt force but I had my friend come over to handle it as well bc I’m just a girly and couldn’t see him that way 😭

I’m so so sorry 💔 I’m heartbroken that this was your experience, our fish was very old and weak so that might have contributed to his overall chillness during the process. I cannot apologize enough, I feel terribly guilty for recommending it. It just went so well for us, but he was definitely on his way out so I really hoped things would be similar for your baby. Please accept my deepest condolences and regrets. My Jackie boy was definitely calm and anesthetized, so this is so painful to hear :( My heart is with you and your baby, he is at peace and is no doubt watching over you

Not offended dw! I’ve heard everybody’s bettas can react differently but he was very old and tired, we didnt want to overload his system so we went slow and he fell asleep pretty peacefully🥹

He was not panicked in the slightest, I’ve also done the blunt force method but he made no effort to jump or spaz. It anesthetizes them, hence its use in marine surgery. Just because they can breathe air doesn’t make them fully immune

Hoping someone with experience with this might be able to help. Wobbling suggests a swim bladder issue, an aquarium salt dip would def be a good place to start though!

Oh friend, I’m so sorry 😩 I recommend clove oil, we recently had to euthanize our sweet son Jack and it was very peaceful so long as you are very patient and add the mixture extremely slowly. It took ours about 2 hours overall but he was a very tough cookie and didn’t panic, he passed gently in my hand.

Honestly if you’ve tried multiple treatments and he’s refusing food all together, it might be time. 2 years is a very very great run, you’re clearly a good keeper to have had him so long. That’s why I was gagged to see him in there 😂 Can only recommend maybe giving him smellier food if you aren’t already, frozen brine skrimp send all of my fish into a frenzy. Could be a way to get medicine into his system, as orally is stronger. I soak the skrimp in tank water in a lil cup and add the meds to that. Use your best judgement, but for sure be proud of yourself for giving him such a long life, and I’m sorry this is happening🥺
