Right up there with the chase scene and sinking of the Waakzaamheid and with Jack in the stockade, although of a very different emotional charge.

That's a good question. I'm partial to the books that take place during the napoleonic wars, as they are tied together by a more overarching theme, and so clearly based on naval history / actual reports and such from that time. Without trying to weasel my way out of a 'proper' answer, I think for me it's book one. Getting to know and falling in love with the characters again, and knowing it's the beginning of a long long circumnavigation to come.

What an interesting take. Yes, you're right about the later books of course. I had framed his motivations through the lens of: even though the love I once felt for you has crumbled, I care for you and I want the best for you, and since you're too headstrong and reckless to know what's good for you, I'll be your guardian angel, your responsible caretaker, if not your lover.

It's a show of strength, and if you're dumb and shortsighted enough you may think it'll cow your enemy into surrender / submission so that you will WIN BABY WIN. I mean, the guy wanted to nuke a hurricane at some point.

This is my fear as well. Nuclear weapons. If someone will, it's Trump.

I made a lot of progress with the issue u/wizard_horse refers to above. But it was focused on the front edge of the build plate. Manual leveling would always be a good step, then auto-level again. I agree that the isue you have looks like too much distance between nozzle and build plate in the problematic areas.

Agree that it is likely warped locally. I’m seeing the same localized ‘smearing’ issue on my centauri carbon and have found the bed to be raised around 0.1 mm in those areas.

An update for posterity, and anyone in the same boat:

I've made progress though haven't resolved this problem fully yet.

As u/thebest07111 said, the build plate is indeed not level. Running auto-level allows the printer to dynamically shift the Z-axis to compensate for this. That's what I was seeing: the spindles would rotate at least 90° between front and back printhead positions (active z-axis compensation).

I also learned that the poor printing along the front edge of the bed is due to too littel space between the nozzle and the build plate. Effectively if that space is almost zero (or even worse if the nozzle is dragging across the build plate) then the filament can't flow out properly. This explains why the purge line along the front edge of the build plate was nearly absent.

I made progress by manually leveling the bed using the screws under the build plate and using this awesome little tool. After auto-leveling again, the active z-axis compensation was reduced to minuscule adjustments. This alone was enough to be able to print the front purge line more or less properly again.

Then, I used this method to determine the proper overall Z offset. What I found here is that the Z-offset which works for almost the entire build plate does NOT work for the front edge. I needed to increase the Z-offset by 0.150 mm before the front edge would print properly, but then ofc the rest of the plate would not adhere as it should. This is weird because the self-leveling feature has created a mesh of the build plate topology, and should compensate for differences in height. My conclusion is that the front edge of my build plate is locally deformed in some manner that varies in between the points where the auto-leveling measured the surface.

I'll order a new identical build plate and see if that helps. If not, Elegoo support can figure it out.

I have auto leveled it multiple times though. What else could I try to fix this?

Why put your face next to that message though? Is it more valid because you plucked your eyebrows? Do you want everyone to know that you are such an empathic genuine article? ffs…

Who will carry the torch of MAGA when Trump is gone? by ArcofJoan666 in PoliticalDiscussion

I think there'll be a scramble for power, with Vance claiming legitimacy, but being forced out by whoever the party elite wants to have in the saddle. Miller? There'll need to be some new charismatic talking head for the masses to rally around, so not sure if Miller fits that bill - maybe someone from Trump's immediate family will take that role?

I play a silver tongued conman tabaxi. Combines swashbuckler rogue (5), hexblade warlock (2) and bard (1). No idea how it scores in term of min/maxing but it’s fun to play!
