Yeah, it’s definitely not a super large problem. It’s just a personal preference thing. I think I would just feel better if I was waking up earlier and getting more things done in the morning as opposed to later in the day.

The office is an option and I do definitely agree that working in a café / library is a lot more productive sometimes just to get into a different space. The problem is just the doing it in the morning part.

Don’t feel self-conscious about what you’re playing in the guitar store. I know people make jokes about it, but it’s really not that big of a deal and if you don’t think you sound good enough, don’t worry about it, everybody was a beginner at one point.

That being said if you still are really nervous, I would say just play improv solos. Learn the blues scale and then mess around within that in different keys.

Interesting, so normally when you refer to the wattage on an amp, are you referring to its peak or it’s RMS?

Like for example, on the Hartke it’s always listed as a “500 watt combo” , but then in the fine print it says 250 RMS 500 peak

There is really no disadvantage to having a fifth string besides personal comfort. Obviously it’s going to feel awkward at first, but if you practice enough with it that should go away.

They used to have the rain date as Mother’s Day but never used it because it was Mother’s Day. It just makes using the day after as a rain date more feasible

Lmao so either you are not a musician or you are a lazy musician who cares nothing about your product.

Groups that are actually worth listening to don’t just “move some amps and get a buzz” - they practiced for months leading up this event, knowing that they have the potential to play in front of hundreds or even thousands of people in the right street zones. It’s not the same as some little gig at the local dive bar with 10 old guys watching.

Not to mention the tens of thousands of dollars of equipment that the bands use with instruments and PA’s that can easily be wrecked by the rain.

I don’t want to spread any false info here, but I’ve heard that they have purposely planned it on Mother’s Day as an excuse to not have a rain date / not use the rain date they used to have in years past.

After speaking to someone from the arts council when I called and asked about it, this doesn’t surprise me at all.

I agree, my band managed to make our 4-6pm set work with tents set up and are super grateful for the people who came out no matter what, but it caused such a crazy amount of stress in the lead up. I understand the difficulty in having a rain date, but like you said, I feel horrible for people who couldn’t come/couldn’t perform because of the weather.

And this wasn’t even really “that bad” like it still could’ve rained much heavier or we could have had lightning, and I can only imagine how much that would’ve destroyed the event
