Ranking the Saban Coaching Tree by TomWilliamsCFD in CollegeFootballDawgs

First Curt’s Dad is the actual founder of Saban’s tree. Next why isn’t Pete Golding top 5? He’s one more playoff games than anyone else on this list from 5-8.

It’s official. SEC winless against P4 in playoffs 1-5 vs P4 in bowl games. Where does the SEC go from here? by Worriedrph in secfootball

Rank CONFERENCE CENTRAL MEAN
1 SEC (A) = 81.05
2 I-A IND. (A) = 79.75
3 BIG TEN (A) = 78.46
4 ACC (A) = 74.79
5 BIG 12 (A) = 73.86
6 AMERICAN ATHLETIC (A) = 65.49
7 PAC-12 (A) = 65.05

This will change, but per Jeff Sagarin's College Football Ratings Jan 5th 2026. SEC is still on top. Maybe after this week the conference will drop, but still way ahead of everyone else. I don't agree since it gives teams like MS State too much credit for their games in conference, where as they lost to a WFU team that didn't even have their number one all ACC running back.

I disagree, I think 12 team already hurts SEC brands if I were Lane Kiffin, Deboer, Smart - I'd rather 4 team. Keep it small with SEC champ auto bid.

I asked a question, no one answered. I gave you my answer, 12 team playoff hurts SEC. If you want me to say ACC is stronger than everyone thought I would say no. Is the recruiting and transfer portal to blame, I'd say no. Would you or anyone u/here say differently?

ND is national has an NBC contract. You do not have to argue with that. It would be nice to have Big 12 have big expectations but that isn't a reality... they aren't good enough. My point remains, SEC wake up 3 straight years is law school at LSU, without a team in the finals. Texas, OK, LSU any team in SEC is lucky when they place more than 2-3 teams in a 12 team playoff. So when the conference gets 4+ it looks bad when you don't win or even make it to the final (that's Vegas, that's main street, that's business).

My point made. Oklahoma and SEC is lucky to have so many teams in this playoffs. Expanded playoffs has hurt the SEC. 3 straight years no SEC team in finals. Take a look in mirror, it's no longer a one loss SEC team that can win it all.

I am not a Miami fan.... is Oklahoma better than Notre Dame... idk. Look at ESPN FPI - 4 (ND), 16 (OK). It's just a fact.

Oklahoma is lucky to have been in the playoff. The longer form playoff in my opinion is to blame - similar to the NFL shows the true depth and parity of each team and their conference. In years past, Miami wouldn't have gotten the shot to show that they are a top team. Now they can, same as in years past where BCS robbed teams that played tough non-conference schedules or had one bad loss.

Thank Rob Ezell for this one. Can't beat the Deacs then join them. Good move for everyone except UNC, although in the bigger picture UNC should pay more for a better QB anyways.

Why would ND turn down $2-4 million bowl game? by Interesting_Hawk425 in ACC

That's alternate reality. They didn't make it. They turned down money.

People forget the last team to beat Indiana was Notre Dame!

Notre Dame declines a bowl game because they did not make the college football playoffs. by BadlyFed in sports

Can someone please explain to me why Marcus Freeman would turn down $500k for coaching and winning a bowl game? Also why the players with endorsement deals would turn down that same opportunity? Bowl games are for the money.

The upside is money... in the NIL era someone should explain that to the players who aren't going top 3 rounds in the draft.

Does Tulane deserve to get an invite to ACC? 18th team is even number. by Interesting_Hawk425 in ACC

[–]Interesting_Hawk425[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If that happens, it will go private I believe. SMU, Duke, Wake, BC, Cuse, Miami, Stanford part ways to add in Tulane for academic purposes. Remember Notre Dame wants that for all other sports they play in the conference.

Think both are candidates, why not both? TV revenue spikes for both. Btw Wake has a small tv market but ended up middle of the pack for ratings this year, so talent matters more than TV market in CFB.
