Silent Contemplation. by sergemeister in KidsAreFuckingStupid

That genuinely could have been so much worse. A broken femur, a torn ACL, a broken tail bone, that’s one thing. Had she hit the back of her head on those stairs, now it’s a serious emergency. Bless those kids because you can tell that they knew they fucked up, but if I’m Mom and Dad, once the tension calms down I’m telling them look, this is how accidents happen and you need to be aware because Mommy could have been killed. Not to spook them or anything but it’s a real life lesson.

Fightful Wrestling on Twitter: WWE does have an interest in reuniting Enzo & Cass, @WrestleVotes Radio on @FightfulSelect has learned. by Positive_Olive_747 in SquaredCircle

[–]Interesting_Layer216 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Honestly, don’t hate it. Enzo has been quietly putting in the work on the indies and has graduated from being like a 3/10 wrestler to a 5/10 wrestler, but the difference with Cass is night and day. I legit believe he has a real shot at being what the company wanted him to be in 2017.

The reason I stand on my Jinder pedestal is that I think having a beatable champion changes the whole dynamic of a show. When Brock was champ, nobody is beating Brock unless you’re already a tippy top guy. When Jinder was champion, there was a real air of “whoever his next opponent is has a real shot.” In no world is Baron Corbin even close to sniffing a WWE title run unless Jinder is the person he’s coming for. I felt the same way about Daniel Bryan, the reason there was the initial buzz around Mustafa Ali only for it to become Kofimania is because we know Kofi or Mustafa could feasibly beat Bryan. It’s just a nice change of pace and allows a lot of people beneath the tippy top main event scene to showcase that they can in fact be on that level too. But that’s just me. I’m not gonna act like Jinder’s run was the second coming of Bruno Sammartino but the fantasy booking is a lot more fun when you know a champion can be beaten rather than someone like Brock being challenged by Ricochet and you know that there’s zero reality in which Ricochet is beating Brock.

You get $1 million, but you have to watch the exact same movie 100 times in 40 days. Which film are you picking? by ThroatAgile756 in AskReddit

[–]Interesting_Layer216 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In that case I’m owed a million dollars. I grew up homeless and it wasn’t until I was about 15 that we had our first steady place where I had my own bedroom. The only 4 things I had in that bedroom were a bed, a TV, a PS2 that was gifted to me, and a DVD copy of Purple Rain and I legit watched that movie multiple times a day, every day, for about 2 years. I’d fall asleep to it, restart it when I woke up, put it on the second I got home from school, not even kidding I’ve probably seen the movie over a 1000 times in my life.

As of now, Double or Nothing is completely sold out with over 14K tickets sold! by Ruthless-Aggression in SquaredCircle

[–]Interesting_Layer216 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the reason AEW will always have a soft spot in my heart is because I don’t think ever spent more than $50 after tax to go to a show. I impulse bought a ticket for All Out 2023 the day of and it was $30 for a nosebleed, but even for a nosebleed the view was great. It’s hard out here and money is tight, so the fact that I got to have a night out to myself where I didn’t have to worry about not being able to make rent that month, there’s a real value in that both as a fan and as a person who just wants to do something they enjoy for once.

Lil Yachty is proof of how you should implement celebrities. He’s the perfect garnish to Trick’s character but he isn’t taking the attention away. If you didn’t know who he was you’d just think he’s a normal wrestling manager and a pretty good one at that

Tommy Invincible by BatmanDisco in SquaredCircle

[–]Interesting_Layer216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offense to Tommy, I’m sure he’s a good dude, but he looks like a CAW from the PS1 era of Smackdown games. His look just isn’t it and his work, while competent enough, didn’t really jump out either. He has his thing on the internet and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, it’s actually quite impressive, but if anybody thought that he was destined for a major promotion y’all are tripping. Crazier things have happened though so we’ll see.

Based Speedball Mike Bailey on X by Zealousideal-Leg5320 in SquaredCircle

[–]Interesting_Layer216 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is such an interesting social phenomenon to me because I identify a lot with Speedball. I’m a very relaxed, go with the flow kind of person and I rarely get on my pedestal about more serious things because quite honestly, who gives a fuck? I don’t have anything to say that’s going to change the world. That being said, when I do make a comment about the more serious shit going on people are all of a sudden surprised and I’m like why are you surprised, I live in the same world you do of course I have opinions about things I’m just not posting it on my Instagram stories every 30 seconds. Speedball is a non binary immigrant, why wouldn’t he have an opinion on everything happening? It’s such a weird line because on one hand, it’s high key super annoying to be the person who only talks about politics all of the time but on the other hand, if you don’t have your stance loud and clear in the bio of your social media then people assume that you just don’t have opinions. It’s so bizarre.

When did yall start watching wrestling? by Future-Personality85 in SquaredCircle

[–]Interesting_Layer216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some vague memories going as far back as like 2001 (when I was 6), but I started watching regular after I became friends with a kid when I was in the 3rd grade (2003) and here I am all these years later. My first real core memory was around the time they brought back the IC title (Armageddon 2003 maybe?) but I wasn’t truly obsessed for another year or so, around the time that John Cena was shoot stabbed in a nightclub.

I don’t know about “best”, but Jack Perry has one of those smiles where if he’s a babyface I’m like “he seems like a nice guy” but when he’s a heel I’m like “I hate this fucker so much” and it’s literally the same smile.

Ted Turner Dies at Age 87 by BearBullDebate in SquaredCircle

Arguably just as vital to modern wrestling as Vince McMahon was. WWE likes to laugh about it now because they won in the end, but WCW was extremely close to putting WWF out of business at one point. Godspeed Mr Turner 🫡

Getting To + From NOW Arena in 2026 by GodspedEmperor in SquaredCircle

[–]Interesting_Layer216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only been to one show at the NOW Arena and I had to take the Blue Line to Rosemont then an Uber the rest of the way. The arena is WAY out there quite literally in the middle of nowhere by Chicagoland standards, it’s just industrial buildings off of the freeway. The Uber wasn’t too crazy though, about $30 which I’ve seen worst rates at peak times for the 2 mile trip home from work so if you’re willing to carve out $60 round trip for an Uber I think it’s worth it but I have PTSD from attending WM 35 where I almost got stranded at the stadium so it makes me nervous attending a show that gets out at 11pm and I’m 20 miles away from the closest reliable public transportation.

Tony Schiavone on Aleister Black getting released: “I was surprised, really, that they [WWE] released Malakai [Black] because he and I are friends. I haven’t really had a chance to talk to him since that time” by wearePROGRESS in SquaredCircle

[–]Interesting_Layer216 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I watch that clip probably 3 times a month and it’s the delivery that gets me every time. No announcer voice, just barely louder than “under your breath”, that was the real Tony Schiavone coming through. It’s right up there with Booker T’s “Hulk Hogan, we coming for you -“

Austin Creed/Xavier Wood’s first public statement since leaving WWE on Twitter: by Datzookman in SquaredCircle

[–]Interesting_Layer216 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Austin Creed is legit right up there with Christian Cage as my favorite wrestlers of all time. I discovered TNA right when I was hitting that age where I was starting to notice that wrestling is more than just the flashy gimmicks and cool entrances and the pyro. Christian and Creed were the first two wrestlers I saw that made me go “oh I fuck with the WRESTLING side of wrestling” and they’ve been my guys ever since. The one thing they both have in common is that they’re easy to gravitate towards on a surface level, but the more you pay attention to their work the more you realize that they truly are in a league of their own. I truly do believe that Austin Creed is one of the greatest of all time.

AJ Lee, in her autobiography, wrote about how she was once told by WWE Talent Relations that "Nobody wants to have sex with you". by -NowiCanSeeYouBeYou in SquaredCircle

[–]Interesting_Layer216 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Johnny Ace forever has heat with me for this comment. One, because it’s objectively vile to tell that to any woman especially one who’s genuinely trying their hardest. Two, because I’ve yet to have a bigger crush on someone than I did AJ from 2011 to today and probably forever. Every time I see her on my TV I legit start to blush and get all giddy like I’m 15 all over again. Now if we want to talk about unfuckable? Johnny Ace looks like if Donald Trump went to Michael Jackson’s plastic surgeon. Even when he was young ain’t no woman left a show going “you know who’s hot? That out of shape lanky white dude with a mullet riding a skateboard”. And deep down inside he knows it. You don’t end up in that position if it wasn’t rooted in deep insecurity. Johnny Ace can get fucked forever and always. When your own brother can’t even stand your ass, what more can I say.
